Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Allison.
Hi Sarah , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I used to care for clients in settings that allowed only 30 minutes for an intake and 15 minutes for follow-ups—nowhere near enough time to truly understand someone’s story. I often couldn’t sleep at night because I knew my clients deserved more. It regularly took four separate sessions to fully understand their concerns and establish a treatment plan we both felt confident in.
I was burned out and knew there had to be a better way. So I built my own practice—and combined all four sessions into one. My intake is now a full 75 minutes, and trust me, it goes by fast. Clients consistently say they feel heard, understood, and educated by the time they leave.
During that first visit, I conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that rules out differential diagnoses and clarifies the true root issue. I treat Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Insomnia, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, and complex trauma. Together, we track symptoms on a 1–10 scale throughout treatment so you can literally see your progress.
I provide clear education on all treatment options, and then we choose an approach that aligns with your preferences and values. My treatment plans are broad and holistic—they may include lifestyle coaching, nutraceutical support, sleep optimization, diet and exercise accountability, and more. I also offer ADHD coaching, which meets weekly and includes daily check-in texts for accountability and momentum.
Follow-ups are offered in two formats:
• 25-minute sessions for medication management plus brief psychotherapy (which accomplishes far more than most people expect), or
• 50-minute sessions for medication plus deeper therapeutic work.
I truly love what I do and consider it an honor when a client trusts me with their story. Partnering with people on their journey toward wellness is one of the greatest privileges of my life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There was a time when I felt completely boxed in by the insurance system I was working in. The scedule had me seeing 4 clients each hour–that rewarded speed instead of quality, and left me feeling like I was doing a disservice to the people who trusted me. I laid my head on the pillow replaying cases in my mind, worried that I had missed something important simply because the appointment blocks were too short. And the emotional weight of trying to understand complex clients in such a rushed environment left me drained, discouraged, and questioning whether I could keep practicing in a way that aligned with my values.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a psychiatric provider who specializes in getting to the root of a person’s mental health symptoms—not just managing surface-level concerns. I conduct comprehensive 75-minute psychiatric evaluations that allow me to fully understand a client’s history, symptoms, patterns, and goals right from the start. My work centers on ruling out differential diagnoses, identifying the true underlying drivers of anxiety, depression, OCD, insomnia, PTSD, bipolar symptoms, and complex trauma, and then crafting a tailored treatment plan that clients feel genuinely confident in.
What I’m Known For
I’m known for being both thorough and deeply relational. Clients often tell me it’s the first time they’ve felt fully heard, understood, and educated about their own mental health. Instead of rushing, I take the time to assess symptoms carefully, rate progress numerically, and explain treatment options clearly so clients can make empowered decisions about their care.
What Sets Me Apart
What truly sets me apart is the time and depth I invest. Many mental health systems rely on quick 30-minute intakes and 15-minute follow-ups, but I’ve built a model that allows space for real understanding. My sessions combine psychiatry, lifestyle medicine, education, and coaching. Treatment may include medication management, nutraceutical options, sleep optimization, diet and exercise accountability, mind-body strategies, and weekly ADHD coaching with daily text support. My approach is collaborative and holistic, giving each client a plan that aligns with their values and goals.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me. Every time someone shares their story, their fears, their hopes, and their struggles, I consider it a privilege. Seeing someone regain stability, confidence, or joy—and knowing I had a part in that—reminds me why I started my own practice. It’s the most meaningful work I could imagine.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is my big sister helping me with my homework and braiding my hair—always with patience, never with scolding. We’d do chores together, talk about everything and nothing, and I always felt completely safe and loved. Her unconditional love shaped so much of who I am and how I care for people today.
