Life & Work with Bobbie Jones of Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbie Jones.

Hi Bobbie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started out working in our local school district (Cypress Fairbanks ISD) for more than a decade, serving as a homeless-liaison and grant administrator. Through that work, I saw how addiction, poverty, family breakdown, and lack of support created cycles of trauma that followed children and families for years. Over time, I felt a calling to offer deeper help, not just resources or paperwork, but healing. That led me to earn my counseling credentials (LPC/LCDC) and eventually launch N-Sight Therapy Services. My goal has always been to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported during their darkest seasons, and walk with them toward healing and hope.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my greatest challenges was balancing a full-time role while building a private practice from the ground up. That transition required developing new skills, not only as a therapist, but also as a business owner. I also faced the challenge of confronting stigma surrounding substance use and mental health, as many individuals in our community are hesitant to seek support. These experiences ultimately shaped my approach to practice. They strengthened my commitment to fostering an environment rooted in trust, empathy, and nonjudgment, and to meeting clients where they are, on their own terms.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is deeply rooted in community impact. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of N-Sight Therapy Services, I support teens and adults navigating mental health challenges, life transitions, and substance use concerns. In addition to my private practice, I serve as a Substance Use Awareness and Prevention Counselor for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where I work directly with adolescents and school communities to address substance use through education, early intervention, and prevention-focused programming.

A significant part of my work centers on creating safe, supportive environments where young people feel seen, heard, and empowered to make healthier choices. By implementing evidence-based prevention programs and collaborating with educators, families, and community partners, I aim to enhance student engagement, academic success, and personal growth. I believe that early education and access to support can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

What I am most proud of is the trust my clients and students place in me and the real change that follows when individuals begin to recognize their own resilience. Whether it’s a teen choosing healthier paths, a client reclaiming emotional stability, or someone finding their voice and learning to advocate for themselves, these moments represent meaningful shifts that extend beyond the therapy room. Through both school-based work and private practice, I am dedicated to breaking down stigma and helping normalize conversations around mental health and substance use – meeting people where they are and providing support that is compassionate, accessible, and free of judgment.

What sets me apart is the ability to bridge clinical care with community-based prevention. My background in education and counseling allows me to work across systems – schools, families, and therapeutic settings, to create meaningful, lasting change. I see my role not just as a therapist, but as an advocate and partner in building healthier, more resilient communities.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Be patient with yourself. Private practice often grows slowly and requires many hats – therapist, administrator, marketer, community-builder. Stay grounded in your mission and remember your “why.” Keep learning. Build a support network for supervision, consultation, and self-care. And above all, be authentic – people don’t connect with perfection; they connect with sincerity, empathy, and real humanity.
