We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mrs. Kimberly Relford . Check out our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m constantly chasing Father God. I want to be more like Him daily. Share His love with others, have compassion towards others, help those less fortunate, share wisdom, and so much more. If I stop chasing God, my life would have no meaning. I would begin chasing after people who will eventually let me down because they are fallible and God is perfect.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi. My name is Kimberly Relford and I am a Houston, Texas native.
I began my gospel rap ministry over 30 years ago under the moniker K-mor which is Kim-messengerofrap.
I travel and share songs and encouragement in various venues, even to our homeless population, youth facilities, and nursing homes.
I recently became disabled and don’t travel much, but I still write songs and encourage others whenever God leads me to do so.
I am currently writing songs for our youth, as well as stories to help build up our youth and remind them how special they are.
My most joyful time is spent with my husband Andre Sr, my two children Shaquaria and Andre Jr, and my granddaughter K’Zheiria.
I also thank God for my Williams and Relford family, Tamara, Tanya, Christine, Cherish, Rosita, Lavonna, Lawanna, The Salters, Nikki, Janice, The Daughters of the King, Monica Bea Positive, and so many more amazing people that I would be all day trying to name you all.
The love from these people have helped me to hold on when the enemy did everything he could to make me let go. They encourage me in my ministry and pray with me and for me.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child coming from an impoverished background, I thought I was less. Less pretty, less deserving, less smart, just less. As I grew and realized that God made me smart, beautiful, kind, loving, creative, and so many more wonderful things; no one can ever tell me anything contrary to what I now know is the truth. I’m fearfully and wonderfully made by Father God in Heaven.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me who really has my back! My circle became an oval, but those in my oval are the real deal and I thank God for each of them.
Success taught me that it’s like a magnet: when it’s up, the people are sticking like glue, when it’s down, the people are pushing away.
Moreover, suffering reminds me that: It was good that I was afflicted Psalm 119:71.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends know that my family matters most to me. I can’t thank God enough for my family.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when my bills are paid in full, groceries are in the kitchen, and my family and friends are good.
