Marie Nguyen is the owner and founder behind the Fizz Nails / Fizz Nail Lounge brand in Houston. She built the business from the ground up with a clear passion for beauty and service. 
• She grew up in a large family with Vietnamese immigrant parents and learned the beauty trade early on, helping in her family’s nail salon. 
• Marie has over 20 years of experience in the nail industry, starting by working in salons and then owning her own. 
• Her first salon was opened in Georgia, where she worked tirelessly before deciding to relocate to Houston for better opportunities. 
• Upon arriving in Houston, she eventually acquired a salon near the Galleria Mall, which became the start of the Fizz brand. 
• Marie credits her team and family support — especially her husband — for her success, and she emphasizes giving clients an enjoyable, empowering self-care experience.

• They offer gel x extension, manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements, waxing, and more across several locations in Houston, including Heights, Washington Ave, Westheimer (Galleria), and a new Meyerland location.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I faced challenges from the very beginning — from limited resources and long hours to learning how to manage people, finances, and growth all at the same time.
One of the biggest challenges was building and maintaining a strong, reliable team in an industry with high turnover. Training, setting standards, and creating a positive work environment took time, patience, and constant effort. There were moments when staffing shortages meant I had to step in and do everything myself.
Another major challenge was growth. Expanding locations brought new obstacles such as higher financial risk, operational systems, city regulations, and maintaining consistent quality across all salons. Balancing expansion while staying true to the original vision was not easy.
Like many businesses, we also faced unexpected hardships during economic slowdowns and industry changes, which forced me to adapt quickly, rethink strategies, and become more resilient.
Despite these challenges, every obstacle became a learning experience. They shaped me into a stronger business owner and helped define the values behind Fizz Nails — perseverance, adaptability, and genuine care for both clients and team members.

I am a creative entrepreneur and salon owner specializing in nail artistry and beauty services. Through Fizz Nails, I focus on delivering high-quality, customized nail designs while creating a welcoming and relaxing experience for every client.
I’m known for my attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to turn a simple service into a personalized experience. What I’m most proud of is building a brand and team that values creativity, professionalism, and genuine care. What sets me apart is my hands-on approach and commitment to maintaining quality while growing multiple locations.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be patient and stay consistent. Focus on mastering your craft, building real relationships with clients, and don’t be afraid to start small. There will be setbacks, but every challenge is a lesson. Believe in yourself, stay disciplined, and keep showing up — growth takes time.
