Hi Ericka, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Ericka Coco, and I’m originally from a small town called Sorrento, Louisiana. While I come from a small town, I’ve always had big-city dreams. In 2018, my husband and I took a leap of faith and relocated to the Houston area, where we’ve been building our life ever since.
Professionally, my background is in finance and accounting. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance and an MBA, and I moved to Houston for an accounting role. Throughout my career, I’ve always been known for my strong attention to detail—a skill that naturally carried over into my creative side. My husband noticed this and encouraged me to explore photography, knowing my love for art and details.
First camera was purchased December 2022, but fear quickly crept in. I questioned how I would find clients, build connections, and make it work in a city where I didn’t know many people. Because of that doubt, I sold the camera in February 2023.
However, photography never really left my heart. In March 2024, I decided to revisit it—this time with confidence and a willingness to put myself out there. From April 2024 to June 2024, I offered free shoots to practice and perfect my craft. With my background in technology, computers, and digital media, photography came very naturally to me, and I picked it up quickly.
In June 2024, I officially opened my business, Coco Captures, and to my surprise, it took off faster than I ever imagined. Just one year later, in June 2025, I opened my own photography studio. My niche quickly became maternity photography, allowing me to capture one of the most beautiful and meaningful seasons in a woman’s life.
Today, I still work as an Accounting Supervisor (thankfully remote!), while successfully running my photography business and studio rentals. I’m incredibly grateful—and still amazed—at how quickly Coco Captures has flourished. What started as fear turned into faith, and that leap has completely changed my life.

Honestly, it’s been pretty smooth. The only real challenge I had was figuring out my niche and deciding where I wanted to focus.

I am a photographer and studio owner specializing in portrait photography, with a strong focus on maternity sessions. I also offer my studio as a creative space for other local photographers, providing a supportive and collaborative environment within the photography community.
I am especially known for my maternity photography, custom-built sets, and the use of digital backdrops that allow each session to feel unique and personalized. Every setup is thoughtfully designed to enhance the client’s vision while maintaining a timeless, artistic feel.
What truly sets my brand apart is the comfort and care I provide to the mothers I work with. From the moment they book, my goal is to create a stress-free and empowering experience. I offer custom sets and a curated collection of maternity gowns, allowing my clients to feel confident, beautiful, and fully supported throughout their session.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the trust my clients place in me during such a special time in their lives. Photography is not just my business—it is my passion. I currently offer maternity, family, and birthday photography services, along with studio rentals for photographers looking for a professional and welcoming space to create.
