Conversations with Tiffany Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Edwards.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello I am Dr. Tiffany Edwards, a licensed clinical psychologist and the proud owner of InneResilience Gym, which is a virtual gym for your mental health. We help professional women work out their ABS: meaning Anxiety, Burnout, Stress and more. We want you to leave our gym feeling uplifted, empowered with mental health exercises, and connected to our sisterhood. Our slogan, “We grow together” represents our emphasis on healing as a community. When you join our gym you join our community.

Destigmatizing the pursuit of optimal mental health has been one of our primary goals. With InneResilience Gym, we want to normalize mental health by drawing a parallel between a physical fitness gym and our gym for your mental health. For example, our offering of emotional fitness groups is similar to aerobic classes in a physical fitness gym. As a community, we engage in exercises to help improve our mental health in the moment. Having the support of our sisterhood is key to healing at InneResilience Gym.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The concept of InneResilience Gym started with a dream that awaken me out of my sleep. I quickly wrote down my ideas and drifted back to sleep. I did not revisit my ideas until years later. Specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic, I began InneResilience Gym; however it was called another name at the time. I dreamt big and attempted to trademark my business name and was quickly shutdown by another company. I felt discouraged at that point for several reasons:

1) I believe the name of a business is its identity and I thought at the time, I was losing my business identity

2) At the time, I had several ideas for the business that did not land as I expected including the development of an emotional fitness app; and

3) As an entrepreneur, it was difficult to “fail fast” when I thought my business was crumbling. Pivoting was not easy. Still isn’t.

Yet with resilience, the ability to push through and grow through difficult times, I rebranded and created the name: InneResilience Gym. As a result, I began to flourish with confidence, poise, grace, and conviction. The name InneResilience Gym better suits the identity and goals of the company: the empowerment and uplifting of gym members with mental health exercises that help remove obstacles against personal goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
InneResilience Gym is a virtual gym for your mental health. We help professional women work out their ABS: meaning Anxiety, Burnout, Stress and more via our offering of personal therapeutic sessions and emotional fitness group. It is important that we normalize the pursuit of mental health services by drawing a parallel between our services and the services of a physical fitness gym. Mental health is just as important as a medical health and could be addressed in a similar fashion.

The factors that set us apart include our accessibility and emphasis on healing via a community. Thus, our gym members get the benefit of receiving services from a specialist with a doctorate, during evening hours and from the comforts of their own home. Additionally, we aim to establish a sisterhood amongst our gym members in clinical and social settings.

I am most proud of the development of our sisterhood. Our slogan “We Grow Together” suggests that our gym members are not alone and we are here to support their healing and growth, as a community.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I aspire to walk into any salsa room or salsa convention and dance well and on time, with anyone, willing to dance with me. In those moments, I intend to be remembered for my personality on the dance floor—warm, excitable, and bubbly, with a slight edge of competitiveness.
