Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Cait Feltman

Cait Feltman shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Cait , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes. A recent review from a couple I photographed for both their engagement and wedding truly made me laugh and feel incredibly proud.
They shared how calm and supported they felt throughout the entire experience, especially on the wedding day when unexpected weather rolled in. Without involving the bride or adding any stress, I adjusted the timeline, coordinated with the best man, and captured the exterior portraits they cared so much about before the storm arrived. Hearing that they didn’t even realize what was happening behind the scenes until later was incredibly meaningful to me.
What stood out most was that they noticed the intention in the smaller moments too, thinking ahead during the reception to make sure we captured enough wedding party photos, paying attention to meaningful details, and even making sure they were fed during dinner. Reading that reminded me why I love what I do. It felt affirming to know that my approach allowed them to stay present and enjoy their day while feeling completely taken care of.
That kind of trust, and knowing it truly mattered to them, is something I’m really proud of.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Cait, a Houston-based wedding and proposal photographer specializing in refined, story-driven imagery. My work centers on capturing moments as they naturally unfold while providing a calm, intentional experience from start to finish.
I’m especially known for photographing and helping plan surprise proposals throughout Houston and the surrounding areas, where discretion, timing, and trust matter just as much as the photographs themselves. On wedding days, my approach is thoughtful and anticipatory. I focus not only on the images, but on creating space for couples to stay present, supported, and fully immersed in their day.
My brand is rooted in an editorial, timeless aesthetic paired with a highly hands-on experience. I’m drawn to meaningful details, genuine emotion, and celebrations that feel personal rather than performative. Whether I’m working with couples in Downtown Houston, The Woodlands, or beyond, my goal is always the same: to document their story with intention, ease, and lasting beauty.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I didn’t believe that you could truly become anything you set your mind to. That idea felt abstract and unrealistic, more like something people said than something that actually happened.
Over time, that belief shifted. Through experience, consistency, and a lot of unseen work, I’ve watched my own life become proof of the opposite. Building and growing multiple successful businesses taught me that belief matters, but it’s belief paired with action that changes everything. When you commit, show up, and stay aligned with what you’re working toward, growth becomes inevitable.
I no longer see success as luck or something reserved for a select few. I see it as something built intentionally, step by step, through belief, effort, and follow-through.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to love herself sooner and to believe in herself sooner. Not once everything felt perfect or figured out, but exactly as she was in the moment. Trusting yourself earlier changes how boldly you move through life, and I wish I had known how capable I already was.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. The public version of me is the real me. Authenticity is something I value deeply, and I don’t believe in changing who I am depending on the room I’m in. If I ever feel like I can’t be myself with someone, that’s usually a sign that the relationship or environment doesn’t truly serve me.
I’ve learned how important it is to stay grounded in who you are, regardless of the situation or the people around you. Being genuine creates clarity, trust, and alignment – both personally and professionally – and it’s something I’m intentional about every day.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they say I was honest and kind, that I moved through the world thoughtfully and with intention. That I was passionate about the things and people I loved, that I loved hard, and that I showed up with mindfulness and care. More than anything, I hope the story reflects that I lived with integrity and heart.
