Story & Lesson Highlights with Delila Castro

Delila Castro shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Delila, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s been bringing me the most joy is slowing down and being intentional with my time, especially with my family and with God. Running a social media agency means being constantly “on,” so choosing moments of presence off-screen has been really grounding for me. Whether it’s quality time with my family or taking time to prayer and reflection, it keeps me grounded and reminds me of how I made it this far. They help me reset, stay aligned, and lead my business from a place of clarity rather than burnout.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Delila Castro and I’m the founder of Digital Dose Media, a social media agency built to support small business owners, service providers, and local brands with intentional strategy and community driven growth.

I started Digital Dose Media because I’m a creative at heart, and now a business owner, and I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to build a brand without the right resources, guidance, or strategy. When I was starting out, I didn’t always have access to the support I needed, and I wanted to create the kind of agency I once looked for myself.

What makes our work different is that we don’t believe social media should be transactional or one size fits all. We focus on strategy just as much as creativity, and we specialize in content batching, helping brands create intentional, high quality content that aligns with their long term goals. By prioritizing systems and planning, we are able to free our clients from the constant while still building real community.

Beyond social media management, Digital Dose Media also offers mentorship, consulting, workshops, and influencer marketing. We’re especially excited about expanding our workshops this year, continuing to build our community, and officially rolling out our influencer marketing services, connecting local brands with local creators.

Our mission is simple: to equip business owners and creatives with the tools, confidence, and strategy they need to grow sustainably and show up online with purpose.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a creative and a builder from a very young age. I was the kid writing poems, always carrying a coloring book, and cutting fabric to make clothes for my Barbie dolls. Creating came naturally to me, it was how I expressed myself and made sense of the world.

I was also an optimistic girl who had been through a lot, yet chose to hold onto hope anyway. Even in hard seasons, I believed in the possibility of joy. I’ve always been a people person, someone who wanted everyone around me to experience a piece of that joy too. I loved connecting people, making them feel seen and included, earning titles like Homecoming Queen and “Most Friendly” felt less about recognition and more about community.

In many ways, this season of my life feels like a return to who I’ve always been. The creativity, the optimism, the love for people, it was all there from the beginning. I’m just giving myself permission now to lead and build from that place again.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me lessons that success never could, especially about timing, surrender, and trust. I went through one of the hardest pruning seasons of my life at the exact same time I started my business. At the time, it felt like the worst possible timing. I questioned how I was supposed to build something new while everything else in my life felt like it was being stripped away.

Looking back now, I see that it was actually perfect timing. God was pruning me, breaking down old versions of myself, removing what I relied on, and exposing areas where I needed deeper faith, discipline, and resilience. That season taught me that growth often requires loss, and that being stripped doesn’t mean being punished, it means being prepared.

Pruning showed me how to build without fear and how to trust God. It shaped my character, refined my purpose, and built me into the woman God called me to be, and most importantly, it taught me true dependence on Him, not on my own strength or understanding.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is staying deeply connected to my Latina roots. Being Latina means being resilience, building community, respect, and showing up for my people in meaningful ways. I protect that part of myself in every room I walk into. I refuse to water it down to fit expectations. It influences how I lead, how I communicate, and how I build community, both personally and professionally. My culture reminds me that my success is not just mine and that’s a value I will always carry with me.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I loved well, that I led with intention and faith. That I created spaces where people felt seen, supported, and encouraged to become who they were called to be. I want my story to be one of obedience and purpose, of someone who trusted God even when the path wasn’t clear and still chose to build.

More than anything, I hope people remember that I showed up for my family, my community, and my calling, that I used my creativity, leadership, and platform to bring joy, hope, and opportunity to others, and that the impact of my life extended far beyond my work.
