Today we’d like to introduce you to Ash Patton .
Hi Ash, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started modeling/acting at a young age. I had my first professional photo shoot at 8 years old. I was picked up by Neil Hamil agency but unfortunately, i couldn’t go too far due to education. Once i graduated school, as promised; my parents gave me the green light to continue modeling. I went back to my mother agency & they gave me a warm welcome back! I made several connections through the agency & gained respect my city. I then moved onto video vixen & acting. Modeling in several music videos to the point where i could say i only work with celebrities of higher caliber after being featured on BET jams. I’ve been featured in a movie called “The Dirty 3rd next generation” streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi. I’ve been on radio interviews from 101 Texas jams to in-person interviews. And YouTube videos with a lot of popular vloggers. All while my parents continued to support me. While being at every shoot. My mom playing a huge role in my modeling considering the fact that she was a model herself. And named “Fox of the Week” in her city. I’d wear a piece of her clothing in every shoot to pay homage. My dad being in the music industry gave me the motivation to keep going. And to also make reggae music. Yes, i am also a reggae artist. Thanks to him i know a lot of old school reggae/dancehall music. I’d have him bring me to my shoots as protection as well as support. Up until he got sick with cancer. Once my dad passed away, i then dived into my saved funds to open my Jamaican food truck business “A Jamaican Ting” dedicated to my dad’s passion for cooking. Teaching me all that i know & ensuring generational wealth for my family. All that i do is to make myself & my family proud & to represent Jamaica as my parents are from Jamaica. I love my culture.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the things i had to overcome were my dad being sick, finishing what i start because i tend to wear many hats so i try to make money out of anything im good at. I start a lot of hustles/business then I’ll get distracted thinking of my next move. Then it would financially affect the other business I’d currently have going on. Also, management. It’s hard finding people to work with these days. I’ve had 3 managers whom I’m no longer with but I’m still open to finding the right people along my path.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have many talents. I’m mostly known for my face being in music videos, movie, YouTube videos, collaborations with different YouTubers/bloggers & streamers. I’m known for my food truck. I’m known for my wig business “ThePlayxHouse” . I also learned how to DJ to carry on my father’s legacy once he passed. And create reggae music of my own. I’d say what sets me apart from others is my drive to keep going no matter what, no matter how difficult life gets! And my ability to discover new talents of myself. Believing that no matter what i put my mind to i can conquer! The goal is to have as many hobbies/talents to choose from in case something doesn’t work out in my favor.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Every family vacation! Traveling from Florida to New York, Jamaica, Mexico, England etc.. And if course every single memory with my father. From taking me shopping to him being at every cheerleading/dance performance. Even the out of state games. Every practice, every time he did my hair for school. When my dad dropped me off at school/ picked me up. Cooking for me, cleaning. Took me with him to work, to the beauty salon. Taught me how to ride a bike & bought me new bikes every year. Taught me how to fish, ride a horse. No one could ever compare nor come close to my father. And every birthday i had. My parents always made it special. I felt so loved. My mom always outdid herself when it came to my birthday. It’s still my favorite holiday. My childhood was very much princess like.
