Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Cook.
Hi Christine , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I went to school for interior design but knew from a very early age that this was always my passion. While my path wasn’t a straight line—and I didn’t initially set out to own my own firm—every role and experience along the way played an important part in shaping how I design and lead today.
My journey included a variety of opportunities that, at the time, may not have felt directly connected, but in hindsight were invaluable. Each one taught me something different about space, scale, detail, and how people experience design. It took years to fully recognize that those moments—both the challenges and the limitations—were necessary seasons of growth and skill-building that prepared me for what was ahead.
When I finally stepped out on my own, everything shifted. I discovered the true scope of what was possible and how expansive this industry could be. What once felt limiting became wide open, and today our work is defined by creativity, scale, and a willingness to push boundaries. I’m incredibly grateful to work with clients who trust our vision and allow us to think boldly, take risks, and create spaces that feel truly special.
Now, with a growing team and an ever-evolving showroom that serves as a creative hub, the sky truly feels like the limit—for both the firm and the work we’re creating.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth or linear road. Much of the challenge came from having to reinvent myself each time life took me somewhere new. Each move required adjusting—not just creatively, but personally and professionally.
Living in Pennsylvania early on showed me how different interior design can function depending on location and culture. Later, spending time in the Middle East was a uniquely formative experience. It wasn’t that I ever quieted my voice or personality, but rather that the environment required a much more thoughtful, careful approach. As a woman, you’re not necessarily encouraged to lead with opinions or forward-thinking energy, especially in public settings, and I had to learn how to work behind the scenes, observe more, and navigate spaces differently.
Those experiences stretched me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. When I returned to Houston, everything felt aligned. I came back with clarity, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the clients who stuck by me and trusted me for more than a decade—clients who believed in my vision, valued my loyalty, and followed my journey from the very beginning. Looking back, every challenge helped shape the designer, leader, and firm I am building today.
We’ve been impressed with EP Interior, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is the level of care, thought, and collaboration we bring to each project. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all aesthetic. Instead, we design homes that reflect our clients’ lifestyles, stories, and how they want to feel in their space. Our projects often push boundaries—through color, texture, scale, and unexpected details—and we’re fortunate to work with clients who trust our vision and allow us to think creatively and take thoughtful risks.
We’re known for our attention to detail and our ability to manage complex projects while keeping the experience enjoyable and approachable. From space planning and construction coordination to sourcing unique furnishings and custom pieces, we pride ourselves on being both highly creative and highly organized. Our showroom plays a big role in that process—it serves as a creative hub for our team and a hands-on resource for clients, allowing them to see, touch, and experience the design in a tangible way.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the culture we’ve built—both internally and with our clients. We’ve grown a collaborative, talented team that shares a passion for design, growth, and excellence, and we’ve built long-term relationships with clients who continue to trust us project after project. That loyalty means everything.
What I want readers to know most is that our brand is rooted in trust, creativity, and evolution. We’re always learning, always refining, and always striving to elevate our work. Our goal isn’t just to design beautiful homes—it’s to create spaces that feel meaningful, inspiring, and deeply personal for the people who live in them.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
No business is built alone, and I’m incredibly aware that this one certainly wasn’t. I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by people who believed in me, supported me, and showed up in meaningful ways at every stage of the journey.
First and foremost, my team deserves immense credit. They are truly the backbone of the business. Their talent, dedication, creativity, and work ethic allow us to take on the scale and complexity of projects we do today. Each person brings something unique to the table, and together we’ve built a collaborative culture rooted in trust, accountability, and a shared passion for great design.
My clients have also played a huge role in the success of EP. Many have been with me for years, for well over a decade—and their loyalty, trust, and willingness to follow my vision from the very beginning has meant everything. They allow us to push boundaries, take creative risks, and continue evolving, and that level of trust is something I never take for granted.
My husband has been an enormous support behind the scenes. We often joke that his title is “everything but the CEO”, and it’s not far from the truth. From problem-solving and logistics to stepping in wherever help is needed, he has supported the business in countless ways—often quietly, but always consistently. More than anything, he’s believed in the vision, supported the risks, and stood firmly behind me through every phase of growth.
I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have a supportive family and extended circle who have always had my back. Building a business requires time, energy, and sacrifice, and having people who encourage you, support you, and cheer you on—especially during the harder seasons, makes all the difference.
This business is a reflection not only of my vision, but of the incredible people who have trusted, supported, and grown alongside me. I’m deeply grateful for all of them.
