Inspiring Conversations with Brea Johnson, LPC-S of Brea’s Healing Haven Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brea Johnson, LPC-S.

Hi Brea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my journey working with clients in 2016, prior to graduating in 2017. Helping others came very naturally to me. I was always the person friends turned to for support and to be heard. Over time, I recognized that this instinct to listen and help could become a meaningful career.

As I gained more experience, my confidence grew, and I became increasingly passionate about the field and the impact I could make. What started as something that felt intuitive evolved into a clear professional path.

Today, I’m grounded in my work and confident in my role, continuing to build my career around empathy, connection, and supporting people through their own stories and growth.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the most significant challenges in my career has been learning to trust my own voice. Early on, as the youngest of three, I often questioned whether I had enough experience or credibility to truly make an impact. That self-doubt pushed me to be very intentional about listening, learning, and growing alongside my clients. Over time, as I witnessed their progress and the strength of the therapeutic relationship, my confidence deepened. That challenge ultimately became a strength, it shaped me into a more grounded, self-aware clinician who leads with humility, presence, and genuine connection.

We’ve been impressed with Brea’s Healing Haven Counseling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Brea’s Healing Haven is a virtual private therapy practice rooted in connection, compassion, and intentional healing. I created it as a space where people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and confidence issues could feel genuinely seen and supported without feeling rushed, minimized, or reduced to a diagnosis.

What sets my practice apart is the way I show up for my clients. I truly love this field, and that love translates into going above and beyond in the therapeutic relationship. I believe therapy should be collaborative and honest. I regularly check in to ensure we’re making the progress a client hopes for, and if we’re not, I’m transparent about exploring different approaches or even a better-fit option. My priority has always been what serves the client best.

I lead with love, but I also believe healing requires accountability. My clients can expect validation, safety, and empathy, paired with gentle challenge and encouragement toward growth. I want every person who enters Brea’s Healing Haven to feel understood, respected, and empowered to move forward at their own pace.

What I want readers to know most is that this practice was built with intention. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens when people feel heard, valued, and supported by someone who truly believes in their ability to grow. That belief is at the heart of everything I do.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along this journey is to bet on yourself while remaining open to change. Growth doesn’t always happen the way you imagine it will, and staying attached to how you think something should go can quietly hold you back. I’ve learned that self-trust paired with flexibility is powerful. When something isn’t working, allowing yourself to pivot isn’t failure, it’s wisdom. Embracing new directions has opened doors I never could have planned for, and that mindset continues to shape both my career and the way I support my clients.

For anyone reading this who feels stuck or unsure of their next step, know that you’re allowed to evolve; sometimes the path forward begins the moment you give yourself permission to try something new.
