Daily Inspiration: Meet Myah LeMaster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myah LeMaster.

Hi Myah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We started all because of my mother in law Karen Howard. she started Serene Beans 11 years ago and took Katy by storm. After successfully taking over the coffee world she wanted to take on other things and wanted to look into selling the business so she could have free time to explore other passions, i fell so deeply in love with the place i couldnt let her sell. i bought it from her so that the integrity of the business would stay the same and me and my husband Blake have been running it ever since and couldn’t be happier. we owe everything to our loyal customers and our founder and mother in law.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Unfortunately, it has not been an easy ride. Our old location was sold and we were scrambling to find a new location, we finally found it but with hold ups at the city it took way longer than expected to get us up and going again, we were down for five months with no income and to make a rough ride even worse my father in law Mark Howard lost his battle to cancer right as we were closing the doors on our old location. It breaks my heart that he never got to see the new Serene Beans location.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a recovery based coffee shop, we host recovery meetings after hours and sell recovery merch, but even above that we pride ourselves on being open to everyone, i want everyone that walks into our shop to know they are a friend and we want them to feel at home and safe and comfortable being at Serene Beans.

What makes you happy?
Seeing our customers every single day and getting to hear their stories and making new regulars and getting to be apart of someones day to day life. seeing the excitement people had for us to be back in business after 5 months was the best day of my life.
