Hi Bright, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
On behalf of BriNat Rehab Services, We welcome you to our BriNat family.

A little history about us is that we were founded by our President/CEO Dr. Bright Akhigbe, PT,DPT,DC in the Houston metro in October of 2024. Dr. Akhigbe has been in practice for 19 yrs as a Texas licensed Chiropractor and Physical Therapist. He practiced in the Dallas metroplex for over 18 yrs in a company he owned and managed providing Chiropractic and Physical Therapy services to the community including a Rehab Staffing company that grew to service over 300 home health agencies in the DFW metro.

It is this wealth of experience as a Clinician and Entrepreneur that he intends to deplore to make your journey in the Houston home heath ecosystem a pleasant one. It is BriNat’s mission to make your experience with us seamless and fulfilling. Our ultimate goal is to represent you in patient’s home by providing optimum therapy care to your patients. We appreciate your business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Upon arriving in America, I faced many obstacles and challenges, mainly due to adapting to a different culture. Coming from Africa, where our philosophy is Ubuntu — “I am because we are” — I was raised in a highly communal society. When I arrived in America, I quickly noticed that the culture was far more individualistic. People tend to focus on personal success rather than shared community achievements. This was a significant challenge for me because I had to learn how to balance my communal upbringing within an individualistic society.

Despite this difference, I remained true to my values by giving back to my community in Nigeria. I found a meaningful balance by supporting healthcare programs, assisting with educational opportunities, and sharing the knowledge I gained in America. I emphasize the importance of hard work, education, and leadership as tools for success.

Another major challenge I encountered was related to my education. I earned my bachelor’s degree in microbiology in Nigeria, graduating magna cum laude. However, when I came to the United States, I had to go through a re-credentialing process to have my degree evaluated and recognized. While this process was challenging, I successfully navigated it and continued my academic journey.

When I entered chiropractic school and later pursued my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, I noticed a major difference between the educational systems. The American education system strongly emphasizes critical thinking, while my prior educational experience was more focused on memorization and repetition. Initially, adapting to this learning style was difficult, but over time, I recognized its value. The American system proved to be more practical and functional, especially through externships and hands-on training, which allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. As I progressed, I developed and mastered strong critical-thinking skills.

After completing my education, I worked for several years for other organizations, but I always had a desire to become an entrepreneur. Starting my own business presented new challenges. Through dedication, hard work, and careful financial planning, I was able to establish my clinic and rehabilitation services. However, between 2014 and 2015, my business faced significant financial setbacks. We lost a substantial amount of revenue due to unpaid patient accounts and outstanding receivables.

Despite these difficulties, my upbringing and family values — which emphasize perseverance, resilience, and hard work — allowed me to rebuild. We reopened the clinic and rehabilitation services, and after a difficult period, the business is now performing well and continuing to grow.

Philosophically, I have always maintained a positive outlook. I do not view experiences as obstacles or challenges, but rather as temporary setbacks and opportunities for growth and learning. While it can be difficult to discuss hardships, I believe they are simply stepping stones that strengthen determination and drive future success

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BriNat Clinic & Rehab Services?

Dr. Akhigbe previously owned and managed a successful Chiropractic and Physical Therapy practice in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex for more than 18 years. The BriNat Family

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For those just starting out, our advice is to build your foundation on experience, integrity, and patience. Take the time to truly understand your field—not just from a business standpoint, but from a hands-on, clinical perspective. Being a clinician first taught us the importance of quality care, ethical decision-making, and putting people before profits.

One thing we wish we knew earlier is how critical relationships are to long-term success. Strong partnerships with patients, staff, and referral sources don’t happen overnight, but they are the backbone of sustainable growth. Listening, following through on commitments, and staying consistent will take you further than any short-term strategy.

We also encourage new founders to remain adaptable. Healthcare environments evolve constantly, and success comes from being willing to learn, adjust, and improve without losing sight of your mission. Challenges are inevitable, but they are also opportunities to refine your systems and strengthen your leadership.

Finally, never underestimate the value of purpose-driven work. When your focus remains on serving your community with excellence and compassion, growth will follow naturally. Stay committed to your vision, trust the process, and remember that meaningful impact takes time.
