Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Estrada.
Hi Christopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 2020 when the pandemic hit. At the time, I was working in the oilfield industry, and within a few months, I was laid off along with many others. I spent about 30 days actively looking for work, but due to my background and some mistakes I made when I was younger, opportunities were limited.
That period forced me to take an honest look at my future and well Instead of giving up, I decided to take a risk on myself and pursue something I had always wanted to do—start a mobile detailing business and build something of my own. I invested everything I had and focused on providing high-quality work, professionalism, and a level of service people could truly trust.
In the early months, I was only getting one to five calls a week. I handled all of my own marketing, both online and in person—visiting storefronts, handing out flyers, and talking directly with people in the community. Over time, word of mouth began to grow because customers appreciated the care and effort I put into every job. That consistency eventually led to one to five calls a day.
I’m extremely grateful for the support the community has shown us and building this business taught me resilience, accountability, and the value of earning trust through hard work. It’s something I’m proud of, and it continues to motivate me to grow both professionally and personally.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a small business is sometimes seen as a hobby, but for those who take it seriously, it’s a full-time commitment in every sense of the word. There are no set hours and no real days off. When you run a business yourself, you’re responsible from the moment you wake up until the day ends.
You’re not just doing one job—you’re doing everything it takes to keep the operation running. That includes adjusting to things like inflation, handling sales, booking and completing jobs, maintaining equipment and supplies, and making sure the business stays efficient. At the same time, you’re still managing your personal life and responsibilities.
Even after the workday ends, there’s more to do. Marketing still needs attention—editing photos, creating ads, and staying consistent across multiple platforms so the business can continue to grow.
It can be demanding and stressful, but it’s also very rewarding. Running a business has taught me discipline, accountability, and how to stay focused under pressure. It’s shown me the value of consistency and hard work, and it’s something I take a lot of pride in.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
