Today we’d like to introduce you to Cara Worrell.
Hi Cara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Before discovering Jazzercise, my fitness routine looked pretty typical for a college student — daily runs, time at the gym, and the occasional fitness class. I enjoyed running and still do, but I found myself craving something more fun and a place where I could truly connect with others while working out. I’ve always loved to dance, so when Jazzercise entered my life, it felt like the perfect fit.
My introduction to Jazzercise actually started long before I ever stepped into a studio as an adult. Fay Mayo, another instructor here in Missouri City, began teaching Jazzercise while she was coaching my high school cheer team. She invited all of her cheerleaders — and our moms — to take her classes, and we had an absolute blast. Her energy and charisma were contagious. When my sister and I left for college, my mom kept going to classes, fell in love with it, and eventually became an instructor herself in 2017.
Despite what the name might suggest, Jazzercise has completely evolved over the years. The format is constantly changing with new music — including current and TikTok favorites — fresh choreography, and innovative class styles that continue to challenge members while helping them reach their fitness goals. It never feels stale, and that’s one of the things I love most.
Jazzercise truly became my happy hour. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, I know I’ll walk out of class smiling, feeling stronger, and more energized than when I walked in.
Watching my mom become an instructor planted a seed for me. I told myself that once I finished grad school, I wanted to get certified too. I graduated in December 2019 and convinced my sister, Leeann, to audition with me. We planned to try out in April of 2020, but COVID delayed things a bit. We were finally certified in June of 2020, and we’ve been loving every minute of it ever since.
As of September 1st, Jazzercise Sienna officially came under new ownership, and stepping into this role has been incredibly meaningful to me. This studio wasn’t chosen by accident — it was the community that drew me in. There’s something really special here: people who show up for themselves and for each other, with so much energy, joy, and heart.
Looking ahead, my goal is to continue building on that foundation and to make sure everyone in Sienna and Missouri City knows we’re here. I want people to feel welcomed whether they’ve been doing Jazzercise for years or they’re walking into their very first class.
You’ll see us becoming more involved in the community, showing up on social media and at local events, and sharing what makes Jazzercise more than just a workout. At its core, it’s about connection, confidence, and having a place where you truly belong — and that’s what I’m most excited to grow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with any new business ownership, there have definitely been the usual challenges that come with a transition. But honestly, the support we’ve felt has been overwhelming in the best way. The members who were already part of this location, along with the instructors who were already teaching here, have been absolutely wonderful and so welcoming.
That support was especially clear during our opening event. We hosted two separate classes and had about 100 people come through — taking class, showing up to support us, and celebrating this new chapter together. It was such an amazing day and a powerful reminder of why this community is so special. Moments like that confirmed for us that this was the right decision and that we’re building something truly meaningful, together.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Right here in the Sienna community of Missouri City, Texas, we offer fun, welcoming group fitness classes for all fitness levels. Our classes combine dance cardio and strength training to deliver an energizing, full-body workout. Whether you’re looking to see physical results, reduce stress, or just feel stronger and more confident, our instructors are ready to encourage and guide you every step of the way.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are so many ways people can work with us, collaborate with us, or support what we’re building. First and foremost, the easiest way is simply to come take a class — whether that’s as a longtime Jazzerciser or someone trying it for the very first time. Showing up, moving with us, and spreading the word means more than people realize.
We also love partnering with local businesses, schools, and community organizations for events, pop-up classes, fundraisers, and wellness initiatives. Collaborations that bring people together and support the community are especially close to our hearts.
And finally, supporting us can be as simple as engaging with us on social media, sharing our posts, tagging friends, or inviting someone to come dance alongside you. Every bit of encouragement and connection helps us grow, and we’re so grateful to be building this with our community.
