Conversations with Kristie Ramirez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristie Ramirez.

Hi Kristie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to the Houston area after earning my MBA from Texas Tech University in 2014 to be with my then fiancé. After months of searching, I eventually connected with the owner of a Tomball-based company that specialized in HR services and recruiting. While working there, I got to know the branch office administrator for the Edward Jones office located in the same building. My Yorkie, Oliver, came to work with me every day, and she would always have dog treats ready for him. Stopping by the office quickly became part of our routine.

In 2016, I was let go during a company restructuring—a difficult moment, but also a relief, considering I was commuting from League City to Tomball every day. The day it happened, I stopped by the Edward Jones office to let her know that Oliver and I wouldn’t be dropping by anymore because I had lost my job and needed something closer to home. That’s when she told me about an opening with Edward Jones—an opportunity I will forever be grateful for.

After multiple rounds of interviews and a day in the life assessment, I received an offer to join the firm, and I accepted without hesitation.

When I first started at Edward Jones, it didn’t take me long to realize that this career was different—it wasn’t just a job. As I began meeting families, business owners, and individuals with increasingly complex financial needs, my purpose became clear: to offer thoughtful, strategic guidance that helps people protect what they’ve built, navigate important decisions, and move forward with intention and confidence. The more I grew in my craft, the more I understood the impact that strong, personalized planning could have—not just on someone’s finances, but on their sense of clarity and peace of mind. That purpose continues to guide my work today.

When I joined the firm, our growth strategy still relied heavily on door knocking—a method rooted in the early days of our organization. I spent the first several years of my career knocking on thousands of doors throughout my community, and many of the people I met during that time are now among my most valued clients. While door knocking played an important role in our history, it is no longer a part of the firm’s growth strategy today. I only occasionally knock on doors now, and although I’m grateful it’s no longer my primary prospecting tool, I remain thankful for what the experience taught me. It was a humble, authentic way to introduce myself to the people I wanted to serve.

This year has been one of reflection as I approach my 10 year anniversary with the firm this October. I think back to who I was as a new financial advisor—just getting my feet wet in a complex, ever changing industry—to who I am today. I still have plenty to learn, and always will, but I am incredibly proud of the advisor and leader I’ve become. And it all traces back to one office administrator, a kind conversation, and a dog treat offered to Oliver.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, and I don’t think it’s meant to be. Anything worth building comes with sacrifice, setbacks, and failures along the way—and I think many business owners would agree with that. Every stage of my journey has come with challenges, but each one has taught me something important.

Early on, one of the biggest struggles was simply gaining traction in a new industry. I was building a practice from the ground up without a book of business, without experience, and without a deep network in the area. My husband and I didn’t have family nearby, I didn’t come from a career with years of established connections, and in my previous job, all the leads had been handed to me. Suddenly, I had to create something entirely on my own. Edward Jones provided a strong process to follow, but it was up to me to put in the work—and I did.

The door knocking phase of my career was also both a challenge and a gift. Facing rejection day after day in the Texas heat, while trying to stay motivated and confident, pushed me far outside my comfort zone. That experience-built resilience, discipline, and humility. It shaped me into the advisor I am today.

Balancing the demands of growing a business while still trying to be present in my personal life added another layer of challenge. Like many professionals, I had to learn how to set boundaries, stay organized, and trust the process—even when progress felt slow or uncertain.

Less than a year into becoming a licensed advisor, Hurricane Harvey hit. Clients had to pause their long term goals to focus on rebuilding their lives. After that came years marked by market volatility, Fed rate hikes, trade tensions with China, a significant market selloff, and a rapid shift in monetary policy—all before COVID even arrived. In the years since, I’ve walked clients through stimulus driven market surges, inflation pressures, rate shocks, banking turmoil, tariff concerns, and an AI driven rally. Looking back, the last decade has been anything but predictable.

Through every disruptive moment, I had to be the steady one—the calm in the storm—ready to listen, to guide, and to help my clients stay grounded in their long term goals. There were times I wasn’t sure I would make it, moments when self doubt crept in, and stretches when growth felt painfully slow. But each obstacle strengthened my confidence and clarified the kind of advisor and leader I wanted to be.

One thing that has kept me grounded through all of it has been my faith. I’ll never forget walking into my office just three months after becoming a licensed advisor, telling God that I was surrendering my business to Him and trusting His plan for my work and my life. That moment has carried me through every heavy day, every setback, and every season of uncertainty. It continues to be the foundation I lean on.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the struggles. They taught me persistence, shaped my purpose, and helped me build a business rooted in intention and service. Every challenge ultimately reinforced why I do this work and who I want to be for the clients I serve—including the families, individuals, and business owners who trust me with some of the most meaningful decisions in their financial lives.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My official title with Edward Jones is Financial Advisor, and I also hold several professional designations, including CFP®, AAMS™, CRPC™, and CRPS™. Of those, the CFP® designation is especially meaningful to me because it strengthened my ability to guide clients through complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence. I love learning and I’m committed to ongoing growth, so I fully expect to add a few more letters behind my name in the near future.

In my practice, I work with a wide range of individuals, families, and business owners. Many of the clients I serve are navigating financial situations that have grown more meaningful and complex over time—whether that’s planning for retirement, managing growing assets, or coordinating employee retirement plans for their businesses. My vision is to be the trusted financial partner they turn to for thoughtful guidance and meticulous attention to every detail of their financial lives. We strive to deliver an exceptional client experience rooted in long term relationships, trust, and personalized strategies that reflect a client’s goals, values, and aspirations.

What I’m most proud of are the moments when clients tell me they’re grateful I knocked on their door, or that I made something complicated feel clear and manageable, or that they now feel confident pursuing bigger goals. It’s an honor to walk alongside people through life’s most significant milestones—new babies, new homes, new careers, retirement—and even through the harder moments, like the loss of a loved one.

What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the people I serve, and I’m committed to doing this work with intention and integrity. I have big goals for my career, including earning recognition as one of the top advisors in Texas and eventually across the U.S. But I know that kind of success comes from showing up for clients every single day—helping them make informed, confident decisions and being a steady presence through whatever life brings

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
There’s one thing I’ve learned over the years: no one builds anything meaningful alone. The work I do today wouldn’t be possible without the people who stand beside me, support me, and make it possible for me to show up fully for my clients. And through both the highs and the challenges, my faith has been a steady presence—reminding me that I’m not walking this path by myself.

First and foremost, I wouldn’t be where I am without my husband, Alec. He has believed in me from the very beginning—through every long night, every demanding season, and every leap of faith. His support is the steady foundation that allows me to pursue my goals with confidence. Our two kids, Dax (4) and Saige (1), are my daily reminders of why this work matters. They inspire me to be better, work harder, and stay grounded in the things that truly count. They are the heart behind everything I do.

I’m also incredibly grateful for my senior office administrator, Sandra, who keeps our day to day operations running with professionalism, care, and a level of consistency I depend on. She ensures our clients receive the experience they deserve and plays an essential role in making our office feel like a place of trust and belonging.

And finally, I want to acknowledge my colleagues at Edward Jones. I’ve learned from advisors who have walked this path before me and from peers who challenge me to grow and improve every single day. It’s a community of people who genuinely care about serving others, and their support has shaped me into the advisor I am today.

At the end of the day, I’m grateful—for the clients who trust me, the team who supports me, and the family who loves me through it all. I’m excited for the impact still ahead as I continue showing up for my clients, my community, and the family who inspires me every day.
