Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Ondra Lawrence Jenkins.
D’Ondra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas, I knew I wanted to help others improve the body’s ability to perform efficiently. I was unsure of how and what that would look like until a helpful college friend of mine, Landon, introduced me to a recruiter from the school Texas Chiropractic College. The more I learned about the versatility of chiropractic care, I then knew that this was my chance to be that difference maker I dreamed to be. I moved from Red Oak to Houston about 3 months later.
Upon receiving my Masters degree in Kinesiology from A.T. Still University while completing my doctoral degree from Texas Chiropractic College, I continued the search to further my purpose. After gaining years of experience, getting married, and having my 2 kids, I further realized that entrepreneurship was my destiny.
After getting Webster certified, I decided to take the leap in October of 2022 to create my last baby, Flo Chiropractic and Wellness. I began working out of an office building suite that was literally a 10 x 12 ft room. I gained a steady patient flow from a few here and there throughout the week to a consistent flow of patients everyday. I expanded my knowledge of treating moms (pre and post natal), and the pediatric population. The mission of Flo Chiropractic and Wellness is to provide top tier chiropractic care for the entire family as we flow through the different stages of life. I also would like to highlight postpartum moms’ care considering that most times, the 4th trimester can be overwhelming. Sufficient, quality recovery is overlooked because the new baby is here and there seems to be little time for mama and I want to change that.
I hit some hiccups along the way that delayed my progress but in November 2025, I received the keys to my new ~1600 sq ft clinic. I then officially moved my practice from southwest Houston to Sugar Land in January 2026 on MLK Jr Day! My practice is consistently growing and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be trusted by so many men, women, and children.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. There was a time, in early 2024, where me and my husband thought that the best move for our family would be to move to Dallas. I was going to have to find a new job and figure out how to start my business all over again. Looking back, I feel as though this was a testament of my faith to see if I was indeed going to trust the path that God would set me on. I believe that because I genuinely trusted my steps would be ordered and that I was willing to put in the work regardless of where I was, it was only then that things I hoped would happen to facilitate the move didn’t happen and additional opportunities came forth.
At the same time, my husband had to find another job and the one that would be most beneficial for us, just so happened to be in California. The sacrifice of splitting our family came with great worry. We then realized that it was meant for us to stay in Houston and continue building my practice. I was again unsure of how I would be able to progress due to the financial strain we were once under and did not know how long it would take to be able to breathe again. In the meantime, my patient population began to grow. Gratefully, my mother in law is retired and she was able to step in to homeschool and help with our children while I began working more hours. It didn’t change the fact that our family was split two thousand miles apart and we were longing to be near one another again. Nonetheless, an unsuspecting opportunity for my business presented itself and I had absolutely no choice but to leap for it. To top off the good news, my husband found another comparable job that allowed him to be more local in Texas and have more time for family.
We’ve been impressed with Flo Chiropractic and Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Flo Chiropractic and Wellness provides top tier chiropractic care for the entire family through adjustments, soft tissue therapies, rehabilitative exercises, nutritional advice and other therapies while educating the public on how to improve and maintain an optimal quality of life. As the owner and head chiropractor, I make it my mission to tailor each treatment plan specific to my patient’s needs. Chiropractic care is for everyone starting from infants to elders. I have the experience effectively treat and rehabilitate pregnant women longing for a more optimal birth experience, infants and adolescents suffering from various conditions, young athletes needing to enhance performance and postpartum moms searching to find their new normal. I am most proud of the versatility of care that I can provide for the community. I have mastered several techniques that qualifies me to be a musculoskeletal expert and intend to educate my patients on how to adopt habits to keep them out of pain.
In addition to chiropractic care, we also offer body sculpting service through Flo Body and Wellness. I decided to add this to the practice because as we go through life, whether its childbirth, depression, or any other life changing event, our bodies change and sometimes we would like a little help settling into our new normal. With body sculpting and additional advice, I can help facilitate enhancing your body’s natural beauty. The body is a wonderful thing, inside and out, and I aim to support it through skin tightening and lifting as well as decreasing stubborn fat through cavitation and nutritional advice.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love a good romance or sci-fi novel. These provide the escape I need until I can get a good vacation on the books (haha). For development as a practitioner, I listen to She Slays The Day podcast. She definitely has dropped some jewels over the years and is definitely entertaining.
