Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Falisha Benson of Pearland

We recently had the chance to connect with Falisha Benson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Falisha , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are grounded and intentional. I begin by getting my five year old ready for school and walking him there, which allows us to connect before the day starts. Immediately after, I go for my daily walk, which serves as both my workout and a time to reflect and reset. When I get home, I complete my self care routine and begin my workday at 10 a.m.

Starting my mornings this way helps me remain centered, focused, and present throughout the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Falisha Benson, founder of Goodies By Jell, a Pearland based luxury dessert catering brand serving the Greater Houston area. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a business through the support of my family and community. I began by offering chocolate covered strawberry gift boxes, then expanded into curated gift boxes and treat packages. Over time, my work grew into full dessert table packages and complete dessert table setups for private celebrations and corporate events. What makes my brand special is the trust I’ve built with my clients and the relationships I have with them. Right now, I’m in a season of elevation and growth. I’m constantly adding new items to my dessert menu, trying new things, and letting my customers lead the way. A lot of what I offer today comes directly from my clients asking for more. I love being in a place where my business continues to grow through the people who support it.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me I’m learning to release is the need to move at a pace that no longer matches where I am. As I’ve grown, I’ve realized I don’t have to operate the same way I once did. I’m allowing myself to slow down, be more selective, and move with intention. That shift has given me more clarity, confidence, and enjoyment in what I do.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly, I don’t frame my journey around giving up. For me, growth has been about adjusting, learning, and continuing forward with faith and clarity.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, there is. What you see publicly is very much me. I share my work, my creativity, and my personality openly, and I’m comfortable being seen. I don’t believe everything has to be serious all the time, I enjoy showing up authentically while still keeping certain parts of my life private.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think my customers would miss the trust and the experience. They know they can trust me and feel confident that their vision will be handled with care, quality, and intention. That sense of ease is something I know they truly value.
