Story & Lesson Highlights with Jonathan Borthwick

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jonathan Borthwick. Check out our conversation below.

Jonathan, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely, It would be a sort of mercy hiring.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Im Jonathan and I live in Houston, Texas. I draw cartoons in my spare time when im not working or completely distracted by the temptations of my vices.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Probably the part of me that relied on other people for my own happiness. Seems that most people are just accidents waiting to happen.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’re doing great, you’re becoming the person you want to be. Dont do anything different, be confused, be patient, It’ll all work out just fine. Stop smoking.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Probably something that is inappropriote to mention here…

Person looking into a mirror with a makeup brush, with an extendable arm holding the mirror.

Child's drawing of a person in a frame, a sofa, a glass on a table, and an open door with shoes and a bag.

Two caricatured men with exaggerated facial features playing tennis, with a scoreboard reading 'Hate-All' above them.

Empty room with open double doors and a dark, abstract figure in the center.

Drawing of a woman with shopping bags, wearing high heels, with long hair and a confident expression.

Child with messy hair peeks out from under a blanket, looking at abstract shapes in the dark background.

A menorah with nine candles, one central candle lit, and a Star of David below, on a flat surface.
