Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Balfour.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
A lover of parties from a young age, I started planning events as a teenager. Each holiday, my sister and I would host our babysitting charges at our home for themed events. Planning the activities, food, & favors were so fulfilling, even as a youth.
Throughout high school and into college I worked first as a head party hostess and then as manager of an indoor children’s playground, Discovery Zone. I took great joy in executing the birthday parties of hundreds of children. I relished in the happiness of the occasion and knew party planning was my passion!
After obtaining a degree from Texas A&M University, and working in the education field for a few years, I returned to my lifelong passion for event planning, and Eventology Weddings was born! We have been going strong for over 13 years now!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Growing a business is never an easy task, and I’ve certainly encountered some challenges along the way. I am quite a perfectionist and have exceedingly high expectations of anyone I bring on our team. Thus, it has been a bit of a challenge to retain team members with the same high standards.
As with any business, there are always growing pains along the path to success but I am fortunate to have worked with some exceptional women throughout our 13+ years of business which has truly helped to elevate Eventology Weddings and ensures we consistently deliver extraordinary customer service to all of the brides we service.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eventology Weddings – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We aim to offer our brides the utmost of professional customer service and have countless online reviews supporting this ongoing effort. We are proud to be a multiple award-winning event planning & design firm serving the Houston and Galveston area.
We have been published in many local publications including Weddings In Houston Magazine, The Knot Real Weddings Magazine, Brides Houston Magazine, Modern Luxury’s Houston Brides Magazine, PaperCity Magazine.
We have also been published nationally in The Knot National Magazine. Additionally, we have had events featured on the following blogs: Ruffled, 7 Centerpieces, Hostess With the Mostess, and Style Me Pretty.
The Eventology Weddings team has been honored with numerous awards including six years as The Knot’s “Best Of” Winner, Wedding Wire’s Couples Choice Award yearly from 2012 to 2018. Most recently, we have been inducted into The Knot’s Hall of Fame of distinguished wedding vendors.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have recently become involved in helping form an exciting new organization aimed at promoting & elevating the vital role of professional wedding planners here in Houston: The Association of Wedding Planners. This is a non-profit organization which I’m honored to serve as a charter board member, currently in the role of secretary.
I am so excited for the future of this group of professionals and have already learned so much from my fellow colleagues in the industry.
