Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Reyes.
Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always wanted to own my own business. When I was a young girl, my dad had a catering company. We spent weekends catering weddings, parties and working concessions at the race track. I truly enjoyed the hustle and bustle of it all. My job was taking orders, cashier, handing out cutlery, passing out bread and other condiments.
So my love for the industry started at a young age.
My motivation for starting A La Cart was my family, In 2021 I had my second son, who was spending 10+ hours a day in daycare because my husband and I were both working 50+ hours a week. I wanted to stay home with my youngest, and be in the pick up line for my oldest. However, I still needed to generate income to help my husband support our family.
I saw a similar concept on TIK TOK by a vendor named FLAKYS POPSICLES from California. I mirrored his concept, and launched my own in September of 2022. We started out with a popsicle topping service, then added a snack cart – and we now offer 10+ services.
We are coming up on our 4th year in business, reaching 400 + catered events. We have had the honor of serving big corporate names such: CHEVRON, TOTAL ENERGIES, KENDRA SCOTT, Baker Hughes, MD Anderson, Woodlands Mall, Baybrook Mall and many more that we are so proud of. From backyards, to birthdays, baby showers, or any celebration that calls for a sweet or savory snack we are pleased to service. It is the word of mouth and referrals of our clients that has been essential in our growth and we are so grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like anything good in life, it didn’t come easy. There was allot of trial and error. Money spent and lost. Times when we worked before seeing a profit. However, it has all been rewarding in one way or another.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a family owned and operated mobile snack cart service offering Sweet & Savory treats. We specialize in Mexican Street Corn and Authentic Mexican Paletas with toppings. Our customer service, presentation and the quality of food is what sets us apart. What I am most proud of is the reputation we have earned and maintained with our clients. It is what’s gotten us from backyards to servicing major corporations. What I want readers to know – is that we understand our services is a luxury not a necessity, We appreciate clients who choose to book us, and do our best to exceed there expectations by creating not only tasty treats but an experience for there guest as well.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
