Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisha Nicole.
Hi Keisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Radio personality for 97.9 The Box 9a-2p – The Keisha Nicole show.
I have always known I was meant to use my voice, but the journey to get here came with real sacrifice. I started in Los Angeles as an intern, then worked my way through roles as a receptionist and HR assistant, just trying to stay close to the industry and learn everything I could. There were seasons where I was broke, my car got repossessed, and life felt uncertain, but I never let go of the vision. Even in my lowest moments, I knew I was building toward something bigger.
My journey took me from Los Angeles to Kentucky, then to Indianapolis, where I continued to grow, develop my voice, and earn my place on the mic. I stayed consistent and kept showing up until I stepped into leading a morning show for five years. That experience shaped me. It taught me how to connect, how to lead, and how to show up for my audience every single day.
From there, I transitioned into hosting my own show in Houston while also reaching listeners in other markets, continuing to expand my voice and impact.
In recent years, I have grown beyond radio, hosting for major professional sports teams and live events, while also serving as the imaging voice for Radio One stations in Atlanta and Cleveland. I am not just a radio personality. I am a media personality, live event host, and voice of the culture, building a brand that connects across radio, digital, and live experiences.
What keeps me grounded is remembering where I started and everything it took to get here. I did not skip steps. I climbed every single one. And I am still growing, still evolving, and still walking fully in my purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. My journey has been anything but smooth. I left Los Angeles with $100 to my name and took my first full time job in Kentucky making $27,000 a year. I was staying with a friend of my cousin just trying to get on my feet, but I knew I had to do whatever it took to become who I knew I was meant to be.
I sacrificed a lot during that time. My car got repossessed, my lights were cut off, and there were moments where I had to figure things out day by day. Nothing about my path was fast or easy. I had to take the long route in my career, working my way up step by step without shortcuts.
There were also moments of doubt, relocating to new cities like Kentucky and Indianapolis, having to rebuild, prove myself all over again, and stay confident even when things were uncertain. But every challenge taught me resilience, discipline, and faith.
Looking back, those struggles shaped me. They gave me the grit to keep going, the perspective to appreciate where I am now, and the strength to keep pushing forward no matter what
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a radio personality, media host, and live event host who specializes in connecting with audiences in a real and relatable way. My foundation is in radio, where I currently host my own show in Houston while also reaching listeners in other markets. I am also the imaging voice for Radio One stations in Atlanta and Cleveland, which allows my voice to extend far beyond one platform.
Over the past few years, I have expanded into hosting for major professional sports teams and live events, adding another dimension to my career. Whether I am on the radio, on stage, or creating digital content, my goal is always the same. I want people to feel something, whether that is informed, entertained, seen, or understood.
I am known for my authenticity, my storytelling, and my ability to connect culture, lifestyle, and real life conversations in a way that resonates. I take pride in being someone my audience can trust, not just to deliver content, but to reflect what people are really thinking and going through.
What I am most proud of is my ability to pivot beyond radio while still using my God given talent, which is my voice. I have been able to grow my career across multiple spaces without losing the core of who I am.
What sets me apart is my versatility and my presence. I can move between radio, live hosting, digital, and brand partnerships seamlessly while still showing up as my authentic self. I understand how to connect with people in any room, on any platform, and I bring that same energy and intention everywhere I go
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising about me is how much I value my alone time. My job is very demanding and people-facing, so outside of work I like to be to myself and really take time to decompress. That balance is important for me because it helps me reset and show up at my best.
Another fun fact is that in high school I was really into sports. I played basketball and was also good at shot put, even winning medals in my district. Most people wouldn’t expect that, but I’ve always had that side to me.
I think those things show a different layer of who I am outside of what people see publicly.
