Today we’d like to introduce you to Salomé Bissa Kopasz.
Hi Salomé, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career as a model in Paris before transitioning into design.
I studied fashion design at the School of Fashion Design in Boston and creative entrepreneurship at MassArt, which gave me both a creative and business foundation.
I later specialized in hat-making, training in New York and Florence under a master hatmaker.
Today, I am the founder of Elöre Atelier in Boston, where I design and handcraft bespoke hats rooted in craftsmanship, storytelling, and individuality.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business on your own comes with a lot of uncertainty—financial pressure, long hours, and learning everything as you go.
One of the biggest challenges has been building a brand around a craft that not many people fully understand anymore. Hat-making is very traditional and time-intensive, so part of my work has been educating people on its value.
There were also moments of doubt—wondering if I was on the right path—but I’ve learned to trust my intuition. Every challenge has helped me grow, both as a designer and as a person.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the founder and designer behind Elöre Atelier, a Boston-based brand focused on bespoke and limited-edition handcrafted hats. My work is rooted in traditional millinery techniques, with each piece made entirely by hand using high-quality materials.
I specialize in custom design, creating hats that are tailored not only to fit, but to reflect the individuality of the person wearing them. My approach blends craftsmanship with storytelling, resulting in pieces that feel both timeless and deeply personal.
I am most proud of building a brand that preserves a disappearing craft while positioning it in a modern, relevant way.
What sets me apart is the level of intention behind each piece. From the materials to the final form, every detail is considered. My work is not about mass production, but about creating meaningful, lasting objects that people connect with.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I think I would just say take your time with what you’re building. We live in a world that moves very fast, but some things need slowness to become meaningful.
For me, craftsmanship is not just about making something with your hands, it’s about being present in the process. And I hope that when people experience my work, they feel that care and intention.
