Life & Work with Cash McIntosh of Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cash McIntosh.

Hi Cash, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey in fashion working in retail, where I was exposed to styling every day. My manager saw potential in me early and encouraged me to explore wardrobe styling more seriously. I leaned into it, developed my eye, and realized I had a natural talent for it.

From there, I committed to the craft. Over the past decade, I’ve built my career through consistency, strong work ethic, and real relationship-building, while also making sure I operated with solid business practices.

As I grew, I expanded into creative direction and producing fashion shows, eventually becoming one of the top fashion show producers in Houston, working with brands like Nike and BMW.

Where I am today is the result of staying disciplined, trusting my instincts, and continuously elevating my vision.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Along the way, I faced some real personal and professional challenges that tested me. I lost both of my parents during this journey, which was something I had to navigate while still pushing forward in my career.

I also spent time moving to different cities and traveling, trying to figure things out, taking risks, and learning through trial and error. There were moments where I went broke investing into myself, and times where I dealt with clients who didn’t handle business the right way.

There was even a period where I questioned everything and felt like giving up. But those experiences ultimately built my resilience, sharpened my judgment, and forced me to move smarter. They’re a big part of what shaped both my mindset and the way I operate today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a wardrobe stylist, creative director, and fashion show producer. I specialize in blending streetwear with luxury, creating looks and experiences that feel both elevated and culturally relevant. My work ranges from styling artists and public figures to producing large-scale fashion shows and curated events that highlight emerging talent.

I’m known for my ability to bring a full vision to life, from the styling to the atmosphere, casting, and overall experience. Over time, I’ve built a reputation for producing high-energy, well-executed shows and for having a strong eye when it comes to putting pieces together in a way that stands out.

One of the things I’m most proud of is building my platform and becoming one of the top fashion show producers in Houston, while also creating opportunities for up-and-coming designers and models through my events. I’ve also had the chance to work with major brands and artists, which has helped expand my reach and credibility.

What sets me apart is the balance between creativity and execution. I don’t just focus on making things look good. I understand how to structure, produce, and deliver at a high level. I move with intention, I value relationships, and I take pride in doing good business, which has allowed me to grow and sustain in this industry.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is family, leaving a legacy, and creating opportunities for minority youth.

Family keeps me grounded, it’s the foundation behind everything I do, and it gives my work purpose beyond just success. Legacy is important to me because I want what I’m building to outlive me. I don’t just want to have moments, I want to create something that has a lasting impact.

A big part of that is opening doors for minority youth. I know how hard it can be to find real opportunities and guidance, so being in a position to create platforms, share knowledge, and help others get access means a lot to me. That’s what gives everything I do real meaning.
