Hi Obiako, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
upon the realization that my collegiate career was likely over after my torn acl, i shifted focus back into my first love music and the rest was history…arkansas to houston to mexico and more i’ve conquered my international feat. of course no story or journey was ever made or told with just a main character and might surely wasn’t and my main characters range from family to the houston legends Dj. Mr. Rogers, Hi-C, GT, mc kane and a few more that for the sake of time and words all i can say is thank you but yes the story of Djqholic is a community effort and i’ll never take the glory alone.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
smooth is depending on the season or year lol, but ultimately; i’d say smooth because i thoroughly enjoy being a dj and bringing people joy and transcending away from their current realities. the struggles aside from janky promoters to flopped events or failed equipments, they’re all just a part of the game i guess so they never really bothered me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
i don’t think of djn as a job or work, it’s more like a weekly therapy session and i get to see new patients. i don’t generally like to think i have a specific area of expertise because i enjoyed every genre and have played everything except a bah mitzvah, i genuinely cruise through genres according to the people i have in front of me. i am very proud of how i read my crowds and cater to them almost personally. i’m an attention to detail type of dj, from a clean booth to a seamless transition to crowd management and getting the people excited. i just really enjoy what i do and i don’t worry about everything else.
What’s next?
no big changes, tbh the game changes daily. there is never any big changes just mainly evolving but i’d love more international gigs so im always gearing up for that.
