Check Out Darlene Gagnon’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Gagnon.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a nonprofit of this nature is not for the faint-hearted. The work encompasses three interconnected facets: the “hero” programs, volunteer management, and fundraising that sustain our mission, the land and facilities that provide our physical foundation, and the horses whose care demands unwavering attention. Each facet requires strategic oversight, twenty-four-hour responsiveness, and a balance of compassion with operational competency. Pipe breaks on the property, unexpected veterinary needs, seasonal shifts in pasture conditions, and the ongoing demands of program delivery create a dynamic environment. Denis and I have structured our lives around these ebbs and flows, embracing the complexity because the reward—lives restored and legacies built—far outweighs the demands.

What began as an offer of marketing support and board service has become something far richer. We have been touched by the volunteers whose dedication sustains the daily operations. We have been touched by the veterans and retired first responders who choose healing week after week. And we have been touched, most unexpectedly, by the horses themselves. No longer are they merely a vision-board ideal or a means to an end. They have nudged their way into our hearts with the same quiet persistence they show our participants. We would walk through any difficulty for the heroes we serve; today, we say with equal conviction that the horses are embedded in our hearts just as deeply.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Darlene Elizabeth Gagnon is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of expertise in branding, marketing, consumer trends, and product development. In her early twenties, she earned a reputation as a consumer trends connoisseur, leveraging her insights to persuade executives to develop brand extensions based on identified opportunities. By her thirties, her ability to filter through fads and focus on revenue-generating trends led her to work with global brands such as Bic International, Nike, Wilson Sports, and Titleist, building brand extensions in the corporate gifts arena.

Her global perspective, gained from working with top marketing agencies and Fortune 500 clients, revealed a gap in the traditional agency model: no one was adequately serving entrepreneurs to understand, clarify, and realize their vision with effective marketing strategies. This insight drove Darlene to leave the corporate world and focus on entrepreneurs ready to scale but lacking marketing expertise, often wasting thousands on poor decisions.

She founded Kinnect Global Management Services to oversee operations, sales, and marketing for her entrepreneurial ventures, including We Kinnect Global Branding Agency, LLC. At WeKinnect, Darlene added a robust platform to manage business operations, integrating tools to streamline marketing for small to midsize businesses.

This platform empowers entrepreneurs with AI-driven strategies, offering do-it-yourself, do-it-with-me, and done-for-you models to boost reach, sales, and efficiency.

Life took a profound turn when Darlene became CEO of Henry’s Home Horse and Human Sanctuary. Applying her business and marketing acumen, she, along with her husband, is transforming the nonprofit into a leader in equine-assisted learning for veterans and retired first responders. Her strategic vision and advocacy are expanding facilities and programs to foster healing connections between rescued horses and those needing emotional support. Darlene’s mission is to build a lasting legacy that serves these heroes long after she’s gone, ensuring empowerment and community for generations.
