Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Prinz.
Hi Emily, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a licensed massage therapist for 11 years, and I spent about 10 years working in massage chains. That environment works well for clients who simply want their muscle knots worked out, but I started realizing it wasn’t the best environment for people dealing with chronic stress and anxiety. Everything is very fast-paced, clients often feel rushed, and therapists are expected to see so many people in a short amount of time that it can be difficult for clients to truly feel cared for and supported.
Over time, I realized I wanted to create something different. I wanted to build a space where people could slow down, breathe, and feel comfortable enough to actually relax. That’s what led me to open my own private practice. I’ve been in my current location for about six months now, and although the business is still young, I have a very clear vision for what I want it to become.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I’ve had to overcome was learning firsthand how deeply chronic stress and trauma can affect the body. When I became a licensed massage therapist at 19, I was dealing with intense anxiety and panic attacks caused by my own trauma. At the time, I thought the only way to handle it was to ignore it and push through. I stayed busy, kept working, and tried to act like I was fine.
Over time, though, I started noticing the physical effects that chronic stress was having on me. It wasn’t just emotional — it showed up in my body too.
Through the years, I’ve met so many wonderful people in the wellness community who taught me many techniques for self healing. That journey changed the way I approach massage therapy. My work is focused on helping people slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and begin releasing the chronic tension and stress they’ve been carrying for years. Having experienced that myself, I know how life-changing it can be.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sunlight Wellness Studio?
Sunlight Wellness Studio was created to be a calm, restorative space for people who are carrying chronic stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and physical tension. After spending 10 years working in fast-paced massage chain environments, I realized many people needed more than muscle work alone. They needed a space where they could feel safe, and genuinely cared for.
What sets my work apart is the holistic approach I take with each client. Holistic massage means looking at the client as a whole person. Mind, body, and spirit. Recognizing that physical tension, emotional stress, and mental wellbeing are all deeply connected. Many of my clients come in feeling overstimulated, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves, and my goal is to help them leave feeling lighter and more grounded.
What’s next?
Right now, I rent a room in Seabrook, Tx and offer massage, reiki, and sound therapy.
My goals for the future are to build my own cottage style studio with a front porch and a botanical garden for hosting events like sound baths.
A treatment room & a float room for a sensory deprivation tank.
I’ll be getting my esthetician license and my services will expand to massage, reiki, sound therapy, waxing, holistic skincare (plant based, no chemicals), and floatation therapy.
