Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Elgin.
Hi Liz, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Liz Elgin, and I’m the owner of Luna Face and Body. My path into esthetics wasn’t something I originally set out to pursue. In my twenties, I explored a range of industries including travel, banking, home building, and working as a flight attendant. All of these experiences taught me a strong foundation in customer service and shaped my focus on the client experience.
Over time, I realized I was most drawn to work that felt more personal and hands on, where I could connect with people in a more meaningful way. I also recognized that I could bring together the skills I had built in my previous roles particularly in customer service and communication and channel them into a more intentional, care driven career. That led me to enroll in esthetics school in 2015 at the Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics in Houston.
During that period, I was also navigating a challenging time in my life and had to step away briefly to focus on my well-being before returning to complete the program. I became a licensed esthetician in 2017 and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.
That experience really shaped me professionally and personally . It taught me resilience and helped me find clarity in my purpose. Over the past nine years, I’ve continued to evolve in my career, developing an approach that blends skill, care, and connection in a way that feels deeply meaningful, and I strive to reflect those values in every service at Luna.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Beyond my personal journey, I’ve also experienced a lot of the natural growing pains that come with building a career in esthetics.
I really had to figure out my niche and how to bring all of my different experiences and skills together . In the early part of my career I began as a wax specialist at European Wax Center, then worked at a popular Houston spa where I was able to gain additional training and expand my skill set by combining my specialty in full body waxing with facials.
Now, I’m in a season where I’m learning what it means to step into business ownership while also still working part-time in a luxury hotel and spa environment here in the Houston area. It’s definitely been a balance of growth and responsibility and has required patience, consistency, and trust in the process. My career has been an ongoing evolution, both personally and professionally, and I value that. It allows me to keep growing into a more present, aligned, and thoughtful esthetician, business owner, and woman .

Luna Face and Body is a modern skincare studio in Houston, rooted in a holistic and personalized approach to skin and body care—where skincare meets self-care in a calm, intentional setting. I offer full-body waxing services for both men and women, along with customized facial treatments, each thoughtfully tailored to the individual.
I created Luna as a space where clients can step away from the pace of daily life and feel fully at ease in the care they’re receiving. My focus goes beyond results, with an emphasis on delivering a consistent, elevated experience that feels personal every time. I truly believe that taking time for self care is so important and I want to share that with my clients.
My work is guided by a commitment to thoughtful, detail-oriented care, always centered on each client’s comfort and overall experience. I am currently accepting new clients and look forward to serving the Houston community.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Personally for me, for success is about living with purpose and making sure the way I show up each day aligns with the kind of life I want to create.
As an esthetician, success to me means creating a safe space for my clients to take time for themselves and leave feeling positively impacted.
