Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Torres.
Hi Antonio, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started with my wellness journey and running.
I wanted to be a runner so bad, but I was also trying to get in shape for my health. As I started exploring running, I found run clubs, and through those run clubs, I met so many people. I made connections, built friendships, and found community.
I enjoyed it so much that I had an idea: to create monthly wellness weekends for women. A safe space for women to feel seen, meet new friends, connect, and talk to other women who were going through life too, whether it was through wellness, healing, or simply trying to find themselves.
With that, I wanted to highlight women owned businesses from the Latino community and introduce them to our local area. From women founded run clubs, to Pilates led by Regina, to coffee, matcha, jewelry, flowers, and so many Latina owned businesses, each month brought a different run club, different vendors, and different energy.
Now, I am a Pilates mat instructor, and my mission is to keep bringing the community together through wellness. I truly believe wellness es para todos. I want to create a space where everyone feels safe, where we speak the language, bring the sazon, and bring the vibes to the mat.
And as I work on bringing my matcha pop up, Matcha Papi, to life this year, I know I’m coming full force. No looking back. Risking it all, because honestly… Porque no?
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life isn’t easy las luchas siempre van a estar but it’s about how you carry them.
As I went through things in my personal life, I kept pushing through every obstacle in front of me. Head held high. Tears wiped behind closed doors. Showing up every day with a smile, because life is too short to stay broken for too long.
So I ran.
I connected. I found people, community, purpose.
And then I did something crazy… my first marathon in Hawaii, no training. Coming from Texas, I really said go big or go home and I meant it.
Because sometimes healing doesn’t look perfect. Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway. Like choosing yourself over and over again.
Y aqui sigo running, growing, and becoming.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Houston-based Pilates mat instructor, wellness curator, and community builder. My work lives at the intersection of movement, culture, and connection. I specialize in creating inclusive wellness experiences from Pilates classes to full-scale wellness events that bring together running, movement, music, and local vendors.
I’m known for building community. I started by showing up to run clubs, and that grew into hosting monthly wellness weekends designed as safe spaces for women to connect, move their bodies, and feel seen. A big part of my work is intentionally highlighting Latina owned businesses whether that’s coffee, matcha, jewelry, or fitness so we can grow together and support our local community.
What I’m most proud of is turning something personal into something bigger than me. From running my first marathon in Hawaii with no training, to now teaching Pilates and leading events, everything I do is rooted in resilience, culture, and purpose. I’ve been able to create spaces where people feel safe, inspired, and connected and that means everything to me.
What sets me apart is the way I blend wellness with cultura. I bring sazon, music, Spanglish, and real life energy into everything I do. My spaces don’t feel intimidating or exclusive they feel like home. Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or you’ve been in your wellness journey for years, I make sure you feel like you belong.
At the end of the day, I’m not just teaching Pilates I’m building a community where wellness is accessible, expressive, and for everyone. And this is just the beginning.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a Mexican household where we lived comfortably. Personality wise, I’ve always been curious, a little rebellious, and full of energy. I was that kid who wanted to try everything soccer, Boy Scouts, gaming, choir anything that looked interesting or exciting, I was there.
I’ve always had that “why not?” mindset. Even when I knew my parents might say no, I still found a way to go for it. I think that came from being naturally adventurous and wanting to experience life fully, not just sit on the sidelines.
Looking back, that version of me makes so much sense now. I’ve always been someone who explores, connects, and isn’t afraid to step into new spaces even if it’s uncomfortable at first. That same energy is what led me to running, building community, and now teaching Pilates. It’s always been in me.
