Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Bohacek.
Hannah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a camera in my hands. Back in high school, I started freelancing and entering photo competitions whenever my school offered them. When I went to ministry school, I was asked to join the team capturing images at church, and that’s really where everything began to grow. I learned so much in that season and started taking photography more seriously, moving into events and finding myself drawn to the moments I was capturing.
When I moved to New Zealand with my now husband, I shifted into portraits and family photography. That’s where my business really took off, and I was able to step into it full time. When we returned to the States, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue long-term. Since then, I’ve continued to grow and refine my style, and today I primarily work in weddings, portraits with a editorial and documentary feel always centered around storytelling, one frame at a time.
In 2021, my husband and I experienced a devastating loss with the stillbirth of our baby. In the aftermath, I needed somewhere to place my energy, and photography became that outlet. During that season, I began partnering with local businesses and creatives in Midland, Texas, and saw so much growth both in my work sphere but also in my creativity. I discovered a depth and perspective I didn’t know I had, and it shaped the way I see and capture the world. That’s where our love for editorial and creative direction really took root, and it’s been a defining part of our work ever since. As that creativity expanded, we also began gaining traction and had the opportunity to be published in magazines during that season.
A few years later, we moved to Houston, where I began building again and this time leaning further into the wedding industry and blending storytelling with the editorial style I had developed. Through word of mouth, the business has continued to grow, and I’m now full-time here in what is the fifth city I’ve had the opportunity to build in.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of pioneering this work across two countries and five cities, each season shaping both the business and the vision behind it. Today, our company name is Rose Dove House which was a name that came from our time in Midland. We are a multi-media creative house designed to support a wide range of creative needs. We offer photography, videography, content creation, social media management, branding, and more.
I’m deeply grateful for the journey and for Jesus Christ for every season, every place, and every story I’ve been trusted to capture and His provision over our lives through my lens.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not been a completely smooth road. Building a business across different cities comes with its own set of challenges. Each time we moved, I had to rebuild a client base from scratch, and I had to figure out what strategies worked best in each new market. On top of that, the financial side can be a real strain. Shifting to a new place always takes a toll as you invest in that transition. But each step, even the hard ones, shaped how we grew and how we keep going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We’ve been so fortunate to wear a lot of hats over the years. With over a decade in the industry, we’ve had our hands in nearly every style of photography, from events to portraits, editorial, and beyond. While we’ve honed in on a real passion for weddings, portraiture, and editorial work, we aren’t limited to just those areas. We love collaborating with all kinds of businesses. Across two countries and five cities, we’ve been able to adapt and grow. As styles change, we’ve evolved, keeping true to the classic, timeless feel that sets us apart as well as breaking out of the boundaries and finding creative direction to implement within that.
What really makes us a standout is that we’re a one-stop creative shop. Our clients don’t have to go to ten different people. They come to us for photography, videography, content creation, social media management, and more. We offer competitive pricing, top-tier quality, and a dedication to customer service. Our turnaround times are efficient, and we’ve been able to create viral social platforms for all kinds of brands. Brands like Christmas shops, tourism and travel destinations, and even birthing centers. I can help grow these platforms quickly, tailored to each brand’s unique voice and vision.
Above all, I’m most proud of the consistency that photography has brought to my life. It’s been a steady anchor through hard seasons and every twist and turn. I’ve met so many incredible people along the way, and their support has been crucial. I’m grateful for every city, every client, and every story we’ve been trusted to tell.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I truly believe the most important quality for my success is the ability to see and capture a story. The story that my clients consciously want to tell, and the one they haven’t quite found the words for yet is what I try to focus on. I rely on that emotional connection when I’m behind the lens, I feel the moments, and I translate them into imagery that make you feel like you’re right there in that moment. That, I think, is at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s a person’s milestone or a brand’s vision. It’s that attention to detail and feeling that truly brings each story to life
