Conversations with Olga Miliuta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Miliuta.

Hi Olga , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Belcanto Music School began from a very personal place — a deep passion for classical music and a desire to share the beauty of the bel canto tradition with others.

I started by teaching a small number of students, focusing on building strong vocal technique and musical understanding. From the beginning, the priority was quality — helping each student grow with confidence and a solid foundation.

As the school developed, it naturally expanded beyond individual lessons. We introduced a choir project, which became an important part of our program. The choir allows singers to experience ensemble singing, develop musicianship, and feel the connection that comes from making music together. It also helps build stage presence and a deeper sense of artistry.

Over time, the results started to speak for themselves. Students began participating in festivals, earning top awards, and performing on stage. That led to growing interest from the community, and the school evolved into a supportive and inspiring space for young musicians.

Today, Belcanto Music School continues to combine strong classical training with a personal, encouraging approach. We’re proud not only of our students’ achievements, but of the community we’ve built — where students develop discipline, artistry, and a lifelong love for music

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road — and I think that’s true for any meaningful project. In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was building awareness and trust in the community. When you’re starting from a small studio, you have to prove your results through your students’ progress and consistency over time.

Another challenge was balancing growth with quality. As more students joined, it was very important to maintain a high standard of teaching and not lose the personal approach that defines Belcanto Music School.

Starting the choir project also came with its own learning curve — organizing schedules, bringing voices together, and shaping a unified sound takes time and patience. But it became one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

There were also moments that required adaptability — changes in schedules, performances, and keeping students motivated through busy academic seasons. But each challenge helped refine the structure of the school and made it stronger.

Overall, while the path had its difficulties, those experiences shaped our identity and helped build a resilient, supportive, and high-quality program.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Belcanto Music School, we focus on vocal and piano education with a strong foundation in classical technique, especially the bel canto tradition. Our work is centered on developing healthy vocal production, musicality, and confident stage presence. We work with students of different ages and levels, guiding them from their very first steps to advanced performance opportunities.

We specialize in building solid technique while also shaping artistic identity. Our students are known for their expressive singing, strong technical foundation, and consistent success in festivals, competitions, and public performances.

One of the things I’m most proud of is not only the achievements, but the growth I see in each student — their confidence, discipline, and genuine connection to music.

A project that truly sets us apart is the Belcanto Choir, created especially for women. This ensemble is very unique because it brings together language, culture, and music. The choir explores repertoire in different languages and styles, allowing singers to reconnect with their roots while also discovering new musical traditions.

Through this project, participants are not only improving their vocal skills, but also expanding their cultural awareness and artistic expression. It creates a strong sense of community and identity, which is incredibly powerful.

What sets Belcanto Music School apart overall is this combination of high-level classical training, individual attention, and meaningful musical experiences — from solo performance to ensemble singing — all within a supportive and inspiring environment.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor starts with being proactive and genuinely engaged. Attend concerts, master classes, and local events, introduce yourself, and stay in touch.

What worked well for me is building real relationships over time — not just asking for help, but showing consistency, respect, and growth. People are more willing to support you when they see your dedication and professionalism.
