Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Cripps.
Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My wife, Erin, and I started C Music Studios together at the the beginning of 2023 with a mission to inspire and empower musicians of all ages to chase their dreams by providing music lessons that students love to attend.
What started as just the two of us wanting to share our love for music has quickly grown into a team of 10+ teachers working with over 200 aspiring musicians each week. In the last few years, we have been able to help recording artists prepare for their studio projects, choir students make all state choirs (3x), and voice students receive scholarships for as much as $50,000.
We genuinely love our clients and our craft, and I think that is a big part of how we got to where we are today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our love for our students and teaching music has fueled tremendous growth, and that growth has brought with it a level of complexity we are still learning to manage. Starting a thriving business from the ground up means that you are constantly solving problems that you’ve never encountered before. Things like building a team that is pulling in the same direction and creating a strong culture are daily battles.
We also have very strong core values and whenever you stand for something, people don’t always understand or agree with you. We’ve been misunderstood and misrepresented by people we loved and trusted, but the mission keeps us moving forward because we know that what we are doing is making a difference in our community.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our mission at C Music Studios is to inspire and empower musicians of all ages to chase their dreams by providing music lessons that students love to attend. What sets us apart is that we work hard to build our students up as people first and then as musicians. I often say that we want our students to feel better about themselves and their instrument at the end of every single lesson. If we do that, we are fulfilling our mission.
We also chose to call ourselves a music studio rather than a music school because to me a school is where you go to learn and a studio is where you go to create. I always want our studio to be a place where students feel comfortable to explore, experiment, make mistakes, and create music.
What makes you happy?
There is a saying that the fastest way to get everything you want in life is by helping others get everything they want in life.
Seeing our students find the courage to get up on stage and share their incredible gifts with the world fills me with so much joy. I’m their biggest fan and helping my students grow week after week is more than I could ever ask for.
