Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Perez.
Hi Ana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my journey as a wedding photographer seven years ago after attending a workshop and immediately falling in love with it. I started by focusing on couple photoshoots, which eventually led to wedding planners and brides seeking out my work, and consequently my booking became more and more consistent.
Now, I am fortunate to photograph weddings full-time. I feel incredibly blessed that my work resonates with so many people and that they trust me with the honor of immortalizing one of the most special days of their lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road at all!
Two of my biggest struggles have been reaching a wider target audience. Specifically regarding the advertising and marketing side of the business. And managing the inconsistencies of being a business owner and being the only one in charge of everything. I cannot always control the number of bookings I receive in a month or year. I simply have to work hard, showcase my work as much as possible, and hope for the best.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a wedding photographer and specialize in documentary style photography, capturing all kinds of weddings celebrations. I want people’s memories to last beyond their special day.
I love the depth and uniqueness in the intimate moments, real emotions, the traditions, and every single detail involved in a wedding.
I’m not just there to click a button, I want to tell a story in a thoughtful and intentional way and make couple’s visions come to life.
I am very proud of the ability to notice everything that happens around me. That type of observation and sensibility really helps me to capture even the smallest details and moments at a wedding. I believe these small moments are often the most important ones. And I also take pride in the immense love and passion I feel for what I do. This is more than just a “service” I provide, it means everything to me. Therefore, I give my 100% to every wedding I photograph, and my primary goal is to deliver the highest quality memories for every couple I work with.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite app as wedding photographer (besides Lightroom, of course) has got to be SCRL because it helps me create beautiful carrousels for instagram. It’s so easy and takes off the mental load of having to create a perfect display of your photos,
When it comes to books, I love reading literary fiction. My latest favorite reads have been: Heart The Lover, Wedding People and They’re Going To Love You.
My biggest source of visual inspiration has always been movies. Any movie. I have tons of books about them. It’s always been my favorite form of art.
