Today we’d like to introduce you to Latoya Lee.
Hi Latoya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey by simply sharing what I knew online. I’ve always loved beauty, hair, and helping people feel more confident, so I began posting content around hairstyling, haircare, and real life as a mom and entrepreneur. At first, it was just me creating videos, trying different ideas, learning social media, and figuring things out as I went. Over time, people started connecting with my personality because I keep things real, relatable, and honest.
As my platforms grew, I realized I wanted to build something bigger than just content. That’s when I started creating my own products and brands, including my haircare line. I also began teaching others what I’ve learned about content creation, marketing, and finding ways to make money online. A big part of my journey has been showing people that you don’t need everything to be perfect to start you just have to stay consistent and keep learning.
Like most entrepreneurs, the journey hasn’t been easy. There were times when growth felt slow, sales weren’t coming in, or I questioned if what I was doing would work. But I kept pushing, kept creating, and kept believing in the vision. I’ve learned that success online comes from being authentic, building community, and not being afraid to evolve.
Today, I balance being a creator, entrepreneur, and mom while continuing to grow my brands and inspire others through my content. I’m still building, still learning, and still dreaming bigger every day, which honestly makes the journey even more exciting.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was building everything from the ground up as a creator and entrepreneur with no blueprint or guaranteed results. In the beginning, I put a lot of time, energy, and creativity into my content and business ideas without seeing immediate growth or income, which was definitely discouraging at times.
Another challenge has been learning as I go. I’ve had to figure out content creation, branding, marketing, and how to run and grow a business all in real time. There were moments where it felt overwhelming trying to balance everything while still staying consistent and showing up online.
I’ve also dealt with self-doubt and comparison. As a creator and entrepreneur, it’s easy to look at other people’s success and question your own timing, but I’ve learned to stay focused on my own journey and trust the process I’m building.
On top of that, balancing motherhood, content creation, and entrepreneurship has required a lot of discipline and time management. There were seasons where I had to slow down, reset, and give myself grace while still pushing forward.
Those challenges didn’t stop me they shaped me. They taught me patience, resilience, and how to keep building even when things aren’t moving as fast as I want them to. I learned to trust the process
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is called **Aura Styles**. It is a beauty brand focused on both skincare and haircare, built around confidence, self-care, and helping people feel their best through effective products and real education.
At Aura Styles, I specialize in creating products and content that support healthy hair and glowing skin. My haircare side focuses on moisture, growth, and maintenance for styles like silk presses, braids, and natural hair. My skincare side is centered around helping people achieve a healthy, radiant glow through simple, consistent routines and quality ingredients.
What sets my brand apart is that it is personal and relatable. I don’t just create products I share real experiences, real results, and real routines that people can actually use in their everyday lives. Everything is built from honesty, education, and results that speak for themselves.
What I’m most proud of is building Aura Styles from the ground up while staying true to my vision. No matter what challenges I faced I keep building. Seeing people trust my brand, engage with my content, and experience results from my products means everything to me because it shows I’m truly making an impact.
Overall, I want readers to know that Aura Styles is more than just a beauty brand it’s about confidence, self-care, and empowering people to feel good in their skin and hair while keeping things simple, realistic, and effective.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people may not know about me is that I didn’t start out fully confident in sharing my journey publicly. Even though I’m a creator and entrepreneur now, I used to overthink my content a lot and hesitate before posting because I worried about how it would be received. Over time, I learned to push past that fear and just start.
Another thing people don’t always expect is how hands-on I am with my business behind the scenes. From product ideas and content planning to marketing strategy, I’m involved in every detail of Aura Styles. I don’t just show up for the brand, I build it day by day. Everything people see online has been created, planned, and managed by me.
What also surprises people is that entrepreneurship and beauty have always been part of my vision for myself. Since I was a little girl, I always said I wanted to become a hairstylist and own my own business one day. I graduated college in 2013 with an Associate’s degree in Business Management, and later went on to cosmetology school, graduating in 2017. Looking back now, it’s meaningful to realize I truly followed through on the goals I set for myself as a child.
I’m also naturally very private and low-key in my personal life. Most people see the business side of me online, but outside of that I value peace, family time, and staying grounded while continuing to grow my brand.
Overall, I think what surprises people most is that everything they see today started with me simply deciding to begin before I felt fully “ready,” and learning along the way.
