Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie C. Thomas, Jr..

Hi Jackie C. , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been interested in creating things that feel new, different, or better. Creativity has always been a big part of who I am. I earned a degree in Consumer Science in Merchandising from the University of Houston, which gave me a deeper appreciation for branding, quality, and product design.

After joining Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in college (shout out to Eta Mu), I was always looking for apparel that represented Alpha in a clean, modern, and premium way. Most of what I found just didn’t feel like something I would wear regularly.

As I got older, I kept coming back to the same thought: Greek paraphernalia could be better. It could honor the culture while still feeling elevated and wearable. Eventually, I realized if I wanted to see it done a certain way, I needed to build it myself.

That’s how Double Perry started.

The brand is about creating Greek apparel with a modern approach. Clean designs, premium materials, and subtle details that still carry meaning and tradition.

Our first release, the 06ers Collection, is inspired by sports culture and pays homage to the history and traditions of Alpha Phi Alpha. The larger vision for Double Perry is to eventually create pieces that celebrate all of the Divine Nine organizations in a fresh and elevated way.

More importantly, this is bigger than apparel. A portion of every purchase supports student scholarships, which has always been part of the vision.

This is still the beginning, but the foundation is there. Double Perry is about culture, legacy, and building something different.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that comes with building something from scratch.
One of the biggest challenges has been managing inventory and timing. Since many of the products are manufactured overseas, there’s a lot of planning involved. You’re trying to predict demand, manage shipping timelines, and avoid ordering too much or too little at the same time. There’s definitely been some trial and error throughout the process.

Another challenge has been building an audience and introducing people to a different approach to Greek apparel. A lot of traditional paraphernalia follows a certain formula, and I intentionally wanted Double Perry to feel more clean, subtle, and refined. Anytime you do something different, there’s a level of risk that comes with it.

And honestly, when you’re starting out, you’re everything. Owner, social media manager, graphic designer, accountant, lead salesperson…all of it. LOL. There are a lot of late nights and moments where you’re figuring things out in real time.
But every challenge has reinforced the same thing for me: if you stay consistent, focus on quality, and keep the standard high, people notice.

We’ve been impressed with Double Perry, LLC., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Double Perry is a modern Greek-adjacent apparel brand focused on premium, culture-driven design. We specialize in creating Greek-inspired pieces that move beyond traditional paraphernalia. The focus is on clean aesthetics, quality materials, and subtle storytelling. Every item is designed to feel intentional, not just something you wear for an event, but something you can wear anywhere.

What sets us apart is how we approach the culture. We respect it fully, but we don’t feel the need to overstate it. The designs are more understated, which actually makes them stand out more. If you know, you know.

From a brand perspective, I’m most proud of the standard we’re setting early. We’re not chasing volume. We’re focused on quality, limited drops, and creating something people feel connected to.

And beyond the product, the scholarship component is a core part of who we are. Supporting students is directly connected to my professional life and something I care deeply about.

For anyone coming across Double Perry, I want them to see it as more than apparel. It’s a reflection of identity, legacy, and evolution.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always been driven and a bit competitive, but also very observant. I paid attention to how things worked, how people moved, how environments were shaped. That mindset carried into both my career and now into building a brand. I was also always balancing different worlds. Academics, leadership, community, and family. That taught me early how to adapt, lead, and stay grounded at the same time. I’ve always had an appreciation for presentation and detail, even before I could fully articulate it. How something looks, how it feels, how it represents you. That shows up clearly now in Double Perry. At the end of the day, I’ve always been someone who wants to build, improve, and leave things better than I found them. That’s been consistent from the beginning.
