Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ NiteKap & Prez D.
Hi DJ NiteKap & Prez D, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Rap Economics started in 2022. Prez met Dj NiteKap (Kap Houston) while he was working at a radio station. Prez D is a co-founder of Exotic Pop. Together we decided to fill a void in southern Hip Hop through a platform that would strictly be about the bars, the lyrics, the rhymes. We started episode 1 with 2 Texas legends; Lil Flip and Mr. Lucci. The success of early videos like Poison Ivi (Boosie’s daughter), Brithaney Renaee, ESG, Quietmoney Dot, Montana 700 helped catapult the platform to greater visibility and relevancy.
Through a genuine love of music, culture, and community….we have worked out to carve out our lane as THE place to come premiere new music, or just showcase new and raw talent. We have kept our ear to the streets and our thumb on the pulse of Gulf Coast Hip Hop. We have executed a level of consistency that propelled us past our competitors. Releasing 350 – 400 pieces of content yearly, we have maintained a dominance that hasn’t been seen since the Screw and SwishaHouse era.
We have innovated the concept of delivering music, bars, culture, and new artists by diversifying into live shows, brand sponsorships, distribution, artist consultations, and music reviews. 4 years later, we are still industry leaders and continue to bring the best artists to the biggest platform.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course it has not been a smooth road, No business grows without set backs and hurdles. The ever-changing landscape of Hip Hop is a struggle within itself to manage and keep up with. Add in the different personalities of a such a large network, we’ve learned through trial and error to walk a path that hasn’t been mapped before.
We’ve been impressed with Rap Economics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A Hip Hop platform focused on The Bars, The Lyrics, The Rhymes. We specialize in finding all biggest, the best, the newest, the hottest, and the most deserving artists and give them a platform to showcase their talent to a mass audience.
We put out content daily, Across all social platforms. We’ve built a cache with our fanbase knowing that everyday, they’re going to get a fresh dose of music, culture, and talent from new artists all over the world.
We’ve earned a reputation with the artist of actually caring about the success of people who come from where we come from. It’s not about the clout for us, or with us….it’s about helping push our culture the next level.
