Life & Work with Torrie Ferguson of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Torrie Ferguson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have 2 stories of how I started because music came before my acting career, with music it was 2019. Music has been my passion since a kid, from me being in the marching and jazz band in school to my adult years recording my first single after being told at a previous 9 to 5 from someone I should use my voice to sing. That’s when I set up my home recording studio and with the help of a rapper/producer in Dallas, Texas named Triple Dino D, I recorded my first song called “Feelings (Got Me)” from my first project The Lockdown released in 2020. Acting started when I was a young kid graduating 6th grade but I didn’t get my break in film until 2020 after being casted in my first TV series on Youtube “Out in the South”. Since then I haven’t looked back!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes of course there have been obstacles, life ain’t smooth with anything you do you will be tested and at the brink of your greatness the devil will show up, you just gotta keep the faith stay positive and move forward. Financially the struggles has been a pressure point in these days in time there’s a price and fee on almost everything and it gets discouraging. Personal problems that becomes the main focus, during my career I lost a big part of my life which was my partner. There was a big transition and adjustment to it only being me calling the shots and I had no one to go to, and fighting for my creativity and dreams with those who don’t fully see the vision.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a award winning recording artist by the name of El CapeTeaux from Dallas, Texas currently I reside in Houston. My upcoming album Mr. Full Attention will be released soon with a single being picked soon as well for release. This album is the album I want to be recognized by the Grammys, I am carefully crafting the sound to get it there. Also as an actor under my government name Torrie Ferguson, I will be playing the role of Billy Strayhorn in the Vincent Victoria’s film “Just Lena”. This will be the first film adaptation of the legendary and beautiful “Stormy Weather” singer Lena Horne who I was introduced to by the feature film “The Wiz”. Billy Strayhorn was Duke Ellington’s right hand man who composed the record “Take The A Train” and “Lush Life”. Strayhorn was Lena vocal producer and the love of her life. I am so excited to portray the role being this will be my first biopic movie a wish come true. Patience is what sets me apart from others and letting the experience and opportunity come instead of forcing it to come.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
My social platforms really sending me a DM is a way to reach out to me, my presence on social media is pretty strong so you can find me to collaborate. You can support my music on all major platforms Spotify, Apple Music etc. under my stage name El CapeTeaux.
