Meet Anne Peavler of King of Pops – Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Peavler.

Hi Anne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I worked as an accountant in Atlanta, GA, or many years. While living in Atlanta I watched King of Pops begin and grow it’s business throughout the Atlanta metroplex, and beyond. They were everywhere – music festivals, community arts festivals, the Atlanta Zoo, etc. Once I even hired them to cater an event at a bank where I work – having no idea about how King of Pops would be a large part of my life in the future.

After moving to Cypress in 2018 I often traveled back to Atlanta and watched King of Pops continue to grow and then begin franchising. In early 2025 King of Pops opened their first franchise in the South Houston area. When I learned that, I decided to bring King of Pops to Cypress. Cypress needed to be introduced to these amazing popsicles. The company puts a lot of effort into their unique recipes and sourcing premium ingredients. King of Pops uses real fruit in the popsicles, not dyes and flavorings!

I started late in the 2025 season – in October. In order to begin to get traction and attention, I set-up the push cart and sold King of Pops at the Chevron at the corner of Barker Cypress and Spring Cypress. And it worked! People stopped by, purchased the popsicles and posted me on their social media. From those wonderful customers posting and spreading the work about how good the popsicles are, it has enabled me to get private party and corporate bookings in addition to retail opportunities.

In March and April of this year I did the same thing. Weekdays I would set-up at the same corner to sell popsicles and market to the hundreds of people that pass through the busy intersection. Now I am doing more private, corporate and retail events so I’ve stopped sitting at the corner. But, when people see me at these other locations, many tell me they saw me at the corner and are now happy to finally get to taste the popsicles.

At King of Pops be believe in UMOHs – Unexpected Moments of Happiness. Weather it’s celebrating National Nurses’ Week with a mid-day popsicle break, thanking teachers at the end of the school year by providing pops during lunch, or just seeing a kid’s eyes light up when presented with their favorite flavor – UMOHs make everyone’s day brighter.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Though I’ve lived in Cypress for 8 years, for most of that time I was working remotely as an accountant. I have not had the opportunity to meet a lot of people and create a large circle of influence. So I joined the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce to meet more business owners and the leaders in the Cy-Fair area. This was a great move. I’ve been able to grow the business and make meaningful connections.

Introducing a new brand into an area with well established brands already intrenched in certain segments can be challenging. I would love to partner with sports programs to provide concessions during their games and tournaments.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
