Hi Mallory, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has always been rooted in storytelling. I’ve been acting and performing on stage since I was a child, which allowed me to build up an extensive, beautiful character wardrobe over the years. However, my most important role is being a busy mom to my three boys. Managing a full house—especially navigating the health issues of my youngest, Tom—means my weekdays are completely dedicated to family.
To balance my passion for performance with my commitment to my kids, I founded Magical Moments. It was born out of a desire to bring high-quality, magical princess and mermaid experiences to children at an affordable price, allowing every family to experience that wonder. Today, it’s a true family affair: I get to step into these beloved characters and bring stories to life on the weekends, all with the incredible support and help of my husband. It’s the perfect bridge between my lifelong love for theater and my life as a mom.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but the bumps along the way have shaped exactly how I approach my life and business. The biggest challenges have been health-related. My youngest son, Tom, has already had to undergo three kidney surgeries, which is incredibly heavy for a mother’s heart. Around the same time, my middle son was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, requiring us to learn a whole new way of navigating the world. On top of managing my boys’ needs, I’ve also had to manage my own chronic health issues.
Balancing doctor appointments, therapies, and surgeries while trying to be a fully present mother and run a business has tested me in ways I never expected. There are days of pure exhaustion. But honestly, it’s also what makes Magical Moments so special to me. Stepping into a character on the weekend and bringing pure joy to another child gives me a beautiful escape and fills my own cup so I can keep fighting for my family during the week.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in theme-park-quality princess and mermaid entertainment, and we are best known for our stunning, high-caliber costuming and immersive storytelling. Having acted since childhood, I treat every party like a theatrical performance.
What truly sets us apart—and what I am most proud of—is how we make this level of luxury entertainment affordable. We have wonderful relationships with other local companies, but because I am the owner and the main performer, we cut out the middleman pricing. Parents get a top-tier, professional actress in a breathtaking costume, but at a price point that makes sense for families. I’m incredibly proud to offer that kind of value without ever compromising on the quality of the magic.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to follow your heart, but always stay fiercely loyal to those who help you get there. When you are building a business, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle, but nobody makes it to the top alone. The community that helps to build you up in the beginning will be the exact same community that supports you when things get tough.
Looking back, I wish I had known just how vital that network would be. Whether it’s your spouse stepping up to help on the weekends, fellow business owners offering a word of encouragement, or the local moms spreading the word about your services—lean into them. Protect those relationships, practice gratitude, and remember that success is so much sweeter when it’s shared with the people who believed in you from day one.
