Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Bonin.
Hi Kate, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been around the camera. I started second shooting weddings at the age of 15, and moved out at 17 while working two jobs, one of them being part time Wedding Photography. I went full time with Wedding photography at the age of 18, and have been full time since!! My love for photography comes from a deep passion to create art. To leave a fingerprint in this world. Photographs that will outlive our generation. And I absolutely adore meeting so many cool people with this job!!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Maintaining a social presence on social media can be hard at times. And with social media comes comparison! So constantly checking my mindset and heart behind my work has been vital.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Wedding Photography! I am super proud of the changes ive made in my business the last year. After being burnt out for 6 months and almost fully stepping away from photography, I realized the issue wasn’t photography.. It was that i wasn’t inspired anymore. I had stopped pushing myself, and growth had staggered. So, I thought about it long and hard, and remembered all of the reasons I loved Photography in the first place. I have been pouring into myself and my business the last year and it has been SO amazing. I am inspired and alive in my work, more than ever.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Comparison is the thief of joy! Stay focused on growing in knowledge, and remember that you are the only one stopping you. Anything is possible if you put your heart and mind to it. Good things take time.
