Meet Danielle Aguirre of Senpai Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Aguirre.

Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m coming up on my one year anniversary of photography; so, it’s really cool that y’all contacted me as my first year is coming to an end. Early April of last year, I decided that I really loved being able to express myself through the art of photography. That same month I also just so happened to attend a local anime convention…. needless to say, I was sold.

I knew immediately that I wanted to capture not only day-day moments of people’s lives because that is beautiful in and of itself, but also cosplay. Cosplay, I believe, is an understated art form that allows people from all walks of life to come together and showcase their love for anime/comics with their costume making or prop skills. So, I’m happy to be able to see the end result of all of their hard work and to help bring it further to life with my own art form.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nope, definitely not a smooth road. When trying to learn something new there are always going to be huge learning curves to deal with. For me, that was learning the basics of photography, any and all editing software, and even business and marketing. Basically everything!

Needless to say, I’m still learning, but I do have hope that one day, eventually, I’ll get everything all figured out.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Senpai Studios – what should we know?
I mainly focus on cosplay photography for now. I’m in love with compositing where I put various images together to make a whole new image. I like to be able to bring a character’s world to life. Being able to do that really well is what I strive for in every image.

However, I’m also currently trying to break into portrait photography. So, you’ll start to see more portraits of characters as well.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
A mentor during this period of my life is well known in the Houston cosplay photographer community, Kris Kehe.

His work is absolutely amazing… I’m always striving to reach his level. Also, my family is definitely a sounding board for me when it comes to making sure my photos are the best that they can be.
