Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Cuccurullo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born 1947 in Camden, N.J. started in the arts at a young age. After receiving a grant at the age of twelve, I studied at the Graphic Arts Center, now the Fleisher Art Memorial, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Markeim Arts Center.
One of my most inspiring teachers was Frank Gasparro, the head engraver of the United States Mint and designer of the Lincoln head penny along with the Susan B. Anthony dollar. Although I spent many years not painting, I always had my hand in the arts and has received six patents using creative skills to make a living.
My artwork today reflects life experiences and consists of materials common to me. I like to think that I’m an experimental artist and work with a mix of materials to create my art. Director of DaVinci Artist Gallery Core Artist at Adam and Madams Gallery Past Owner of Art Gallery 314 Showing now at: Lone Star College – Hubbell & Hudson
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After not painting for mean years at the age of 60 and thinking about retiring I start painting again. I retired on March 2ed 2016 on March 3ed I sold 40 paintings and three months later sold 50 paintings my first-year sales were over 220 paintings. Most of my art was sold to doctors, laws and office building. I displayed my work anywhere I could. January 2017 I was accepted at DaVinci Artists Gallery.
Opened a gallery in Old Town Spring but sold it back to my partner because I was not able to paint as often as I would like. I’m also am one of the core artists at Adam and Madams Gallery in Old Town Spring. I’m on display at Lone Star College and Hubbell and Hudson Kitchen now.

I’m a textured artist using any mediums that will produce a texture, like plaster. My latest series is 36 layers of custom paint one color layer at a time then I carving into the paint to get a rainbow of color. I have sold ever painting I have produced but they take many hours.
