Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Fritts.
Hi Wendy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey as a young mom, learning early what hard work, sacrifice, and determination really meant. Growing up with humble beginnings taught me to appreciate every opportunity and never give up on my goals. My passion for helping others led me to pursue a career as a surgical technologist, where I have the privilege of making a difference in patients’ lives every day. Along the way, I’ve also embraced opportunities in modeling, proving that it’s never too late to follow more than one dream. Today, I’m proud to be a certified surgical technologist, a model, and most importantly, a grandmother to 4 amazing grandchildren. Life hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has shaped me into the strong, compassionate woman I am today. Funny how life’s messiest detours sometimes build the best stories. We always insist on learning everything the hard way, but occasionally it works out.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all, it has been a hard road. I became a mother at a young age and had to learn how to balance raising a family while working toward my education and career goals. There were times when money was tight, very tight, and growing up while poor, and with difficult beginnings taught me to work hard for everything I have. Taking care of my family, including stepping up for nieces and nephews after both of my brothers and my mom had passed away, when they needed me, often meant putting others before myself. Returning to school and pursuing a career as a surgical technologist required long hours, sacrifice, and determination. It’s been hard trying to navigate school hours with family hours and all of the studying that is required for the program. Even when life felt overwhelming, I refused to give up because I wanted to build a better future for myself and my family. Every challenge has made me stronger, more compassionate, and more grateful for the opportunities I have today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Certified Surgical Technologist dedicated to providing safe, compassionate, and efficient care in the operating room. My role is to prepare sterile instruments, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, and help ensure every procedure runs smoothly so patients receive the best possible care. I specialize in maintaining a sterile environment, supporting surgical teams during complex procedures, and staying calm under pressure when every second matters.
What I’m most proud of is knowing that my work directly impacts patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Although patients may never know my name, I take pride in being part of the team that helps them heal. Caring for others has always come naturally to me, and I strive to treat every patient with the same respect and compassion I would want for my own family.
I am known for my compassionate heart, unwavering work ethic, resilience, and my commitment to caring for others with excellence.
What sets me apart is my resilience, strong work ethic, and genuine passion for serving others. My journey has not always been easy, but every challenge has strengthened my determination and deepened my appreciation for the opportunity to make a difference. I bring empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence into every operating room, and I believe those qualities are just as important as technical skill.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe the surgical technology field will continue to advance with new technology, minimally invasive procedures, robotics, and artificial intelligence. As surgeries become more complex, CST’s will need to stay current with new equipment, techniques, and safety standards through continuing education. There will also be a growing demand for skilled surgical professionals because of an aging population and the increasing need for surgical care. While technology will continue to improve patient outcomes and operating room efficiency, I believe the human element will always remain essential. Compassion, teamwork, communication, and attention to detail are qualities that technology cannot replace, and those skills will continue to define excellent patient care.
The modeling industry has changed dramatically over the last several years, and I believe that trend will continue. More brands are embracing diversity, authenticity, and age inclusivity. Women over 40, 50, and even 60 are becoming more visible in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle campaigns because consumers want to see real people they can relate to. I think the demand for mature models will continue to grow as companies recognize the buying power and influence of older generations.
Social media has also created opportunities for models to build personal brands without relying solely on traditional agencies. In the next 5 to 10 years, I believe we’ll see even more opportunities for older models in advertising, health care, wellness, fitness, and commercial campaigns. Experience, confidence, and authenticity are becoming just as valuable as youth, and I think that’s a positive shift for the industry.
