Life & Work with Tatiana Nuval of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Nuval.

Hi Tatiana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a Filipina born and raised in South Texas, and I moved to Houston in 2024. By profession, I’m a registered nurse but I’ve always been passionate about creating meaningful experiences as such I would do for my own birthday. After moving to a new city where I didn’t know many people, I realized how hard it can be to make genuine connections as an adult. That inspired me to start Her Movement, a community that brings women together through movement, wellness and intentional connection. What began as a simple idea has grown into sold-out events and collaborations with local businesses, all centered around creating spaces where women feel seen, welcomed, and part of something bigger than just a workout.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges has been getting people and businesses to take a new, local community seriously. There have been times when emails went unanswered, ideas weren’t given a chance, or communication simply fell through. That can be discouraging when you’re pouring your heart into something you believe in.

Over time, I’ve learned that not every partnership is the right fit and that’s okay. Building Her Movement has taught me the importance of working with people who genuinely believe in community, collaboration and supporting one another. The right partnerships have always come from businesses that align with our values and energy and those relationships have made all the difference.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a registered nurse with a background in critical care. My work has taught me the importance of compassion, resilience and caring for people during some of their most vulnerable moments. I’m proud to be part of a profession dedicated to improving lives, and that foundation continues to shape how I lead, connect with others and serve my community outside of my job.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People often assume building a community came naturally to me but I actually started Her Movement after moving to Houston and experiencing what it felt like to be new in a city. That experience inspired me to create the kind of community I was looking for myself.
