Today we’d like to introduce you to Emerald Thompson.
Hi Emerald, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into entrepreneurship wasn’t traditional. I’m a mother of five, and like many women, I’ve faced my share of challenges, including becoming a young mom, navigating divorce, and overcoming difficult life circumstances. Those experiences taught me resilience and pushed me to create a better future not only for myself but for my children.
I started in the tax industry because I saw it as more than preparing returns it was a way to create financial stability and help other women build wealth. What began as a personal opportunity to change my own life quickly turned into a passion for educating and empowering others. I realized that many people, especially mothers and underserved communities, simply needed someone to guide them and show them that financial success was within reach.
Today, I am the owner of Elite Tax Solutions and have built a business centered on service, education, and opportunity. Beyond helping clients with their tax needs, I mentor and train aspiring tax professionals, helping them create additional streams of income and build businesses of their own. My mission has evolved into something much bigger than taxes it’s about creating opportunities, breaking generational cycles, and showing other women, especially mothers, that they don’t have to choose between providing for their children and pursuing their dreams.
Every stage of my journey has shaped who I am today. The obstacles I faced became the foundation for my purpose, and I’m proud to use my story to inspire others to believe that their current circumstances don’t have to define their future. My greatest accomplishment isn’t simply building a successful business it’s creating a legacy for my children and helping other families build one for themselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I think there’s a misconception that once you become a business owner, everything just falls into place. The reality is that entrepreneurship comes with its own set of challenges, and for me, those challenges are multiplied because I’m also an active and present mother of five.
Motherhood alone is a full time job. Juggling school activities, sports, camps, and simply being there for my children while running a growing business requires constant balance. Then there’s the responsibility of leading a team, managing employees, serving clients, and making sure the business continues to grow and evolve. On top of that, I believe in investing in my own personal development because I can’t pour into others if I’m not growing myself.
There have been moments where the weight of wearing so many hats has felt overwhelming. Trying to be a great mother, an effective leader, a business owner, and still make time for personal growth while keeping my household running can be taxing at times. I’ve had to learn that I can’t do everything perfectly, and that’s okay.
What has kept me grounded through every season is my faith. My relationship with God has been my anchor during difficult moments and my source of strength when I’ve questioned whether I could keep going. I’ve learned to trust the process, embrace the challenges, and understand that every obstacle has prepared me for the next level of growth.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey. The struggles have made me more compassionate, resilient, and intentional. They’ve shaped the leader, mother, and entrepreneur I am today, and they’ve given me a deeper passion for helping other women realize that they can build a successful life and business without giving up on the things that matter most to them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Elite is more than a tax and financial services brand it’s a community built on relationships, trust, and long term financial empowerment. While we specialize in tax preparation and strategy, we also provide access to resources like life insurance, credit support education, and income building opportunities designed to help women create stronger financial futures.
What sets us apart is our approach. We are not transactional we are relational. We serve women, especially mothers and single mothers, through a faith centered sisterhood that prioritizes both financial growth and personal balance.
At its core, Elite exists to help women build income and stability in a way that aligns with their lives, not competes with them. It’s about support, opportunity, and walking with women as they create lasting change for their families.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways to work with, collaborate with, or support what we’re building. For women who are interested in joining our community, we provide training, tools, and resources designed to help them step into the tax and financial services space with confidence. Our focus is not just opportunity, but education making sure women are equipped to create real financial stability for themselves and their families.
We also welcome collaboration with other business owners and professionals. Whether it’s tax strategy support, reducing tax liability, or helping structure financial decisions more efficiently, our goal is always to bring value and long-term solutions to the table.
Beyond business, we are actively involved in community service, including volunteering with organizations like the Houston Food Bank. Giving back is a core part of who we are, and we believe impact should extend beyond business into the communities we serve.
At the heart of it all, what we need most is visibility. We are focused on reaching more women online so they can see that they have options, access to training, and pathways to build something better for themselves and their children. The more exposure we have, the more lives we’re able to impact and that is ultimately the mission
