Conversations with Abigail Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Rodriguez.

Hi Abigail, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t have “become a beauty creator” on my bingo card, but when I became a mom, I knew I wanted more for our lives than working away from home most of the time. I knew my current job wouldn’t afford the vision I had for my family, the opportunity or the freedom to choose. So I partnered with a clean beauty brand because I saw other women making millions doing it, and instead of thinking “I could never,” i thought, “why not me?”
And so began my little business with big vision as a beauty creator and shampoo dealer. It sounds crazy when you read it out loud, but the reality is it’s turning that vision into real life. And I am just getting started. For now. It’s helping to pay bills, but soon it’ll be the reason I retire my whole family and we get to lead the life we’ve dreamed of.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle is myself, getting out of my own way, releasing the pressure to please other people who don’t understand the vision and just doing what I know works and will work. As a mom you always battle time, exhaustion and too many things on your plate but I refuse to let those obstacles be the reason this business doesn’t thrive.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
After starting my beauty business I launched “The Overdressed Mom” to help women feel comfortable with taking up space, allowing themselves permission to follow through with their dreams and their self care and get “overdressed.” Being overdressed doesn’t just mean clothes, it means getting into an outfit you love, doing your hair the way you like, make up on, workout complete, drinking coffee hot, FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, and not let the weight of motherhood become your entire personality. It aligned perfectly with the low tox beauty products I was already promoting in my business and it set me apart from what others were doing. I’m really proud of how I put that together and I think my audience and customers resonate with it.

What were you like growing up?
I was on the shy side as a kid, but as a grew older loved surrounding myself with friends. I loved fashion, photography, being girly. But also loved sports, and movement and wellness.
