Conversations with Dominique McGhee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique McGhee.

Hi Dominique, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story started back in college when I co-authored a blog with a close friend. What began as sharing our weekly food adventures quickly blossomed into a radio show and some really awesome opportunities. After our joint blog was no longer being written, I continued to share my love for all things Houston via social media and a new blog called Days With Dom. From there, it lead to me doing freelance writing for some local publications as well as working with a friend as she launched a lifestyle magazine. After a couple of years, a friend launched a boutique PR company which gave me the opportunity to work on a different side of the table and I loved it. Helping to craft stories and content directly for many of the brands, companies, and people that I admired was and still is very fulfilling. From chefs to founders, and everyone in between, I’ve always been passionate about storytelling and building bridges between brands and customers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not even in the slightest. One of the biggest struggles, for all of us, was 2020. Having to pivot and get creative while budgets were being cut but also making sure that clients knew we were still in their corner with all of the changes. Also, social media has changed SOOOO much and my love for it (or lack thereof) has also shifted a bit.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been using my experience gained from freelance work and being on a corporate marketing team to build a creative agency. I’m known for being a connector, a passionate person, and someone that will do what it takes to get the job done. I love working with and sharing the stories of founders and family owned businesses – learning all that I can from them to help build the bridge to customers and finding unique ways to share their story with the world. I’m currently working with a Houston staple that has been a part of many Houstonian’s life for almost 60 years and I view it truly as an honor to continue sharing their legacy. One project that I am proud of was our collaboration with TUTS last year for their show Waitress – such an amazing opportunity and the perfect way to connect two audiences. Ultimately, I genuinely care and invest myself in learning all that I can so that I can best serve clients.
