Today we’d like to introduce you to Trang Le.
Trang, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I love baking, cooking, event designing & calligraphy. I used to want to have my own baking business. However, I ran into some health problem and have a disability with my legs so I had to put that desire aside. The statement when God closed a door, He will opens a window is perfectly applied to my situation. My calligraphy journey began in summer of 2014. After talking about wanting to learn calligraphy to improve my handwriting, that summer my friend and I decided to drive 2 hours to Austin to attend a class after learning that our favorite calligrapher is offering a class there. At first I just wanted to take the class to improve my handwriting. However, I fell in love with this lost art after taking the class. There are so much to calligraphy than just picking up a pen and write. There are many different inks. There are different papers. There are different styles of calligraphy. And if you learn how to write correctly, calligraphy is like art and your writing is like a painting. I love calligraphy and I’m so glad God had opened this door for me. Writing calligraphy has given me peace and it has helped me to distress from my 9 to 5 work. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for TLCreations.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I do calligraphy. I can pretty much write on anything, paper, wood, chalkboard, mirror, leaves, fruits & even marble. One event, I even wrote on seashells for personalized placecards. I love calligraphy & love seeing it. I think there are something very beautiful and personal about handwriting. I love receiving a handwritten note. When I do received one I feel like that person personally thought about me. And I hope that when people see my handwriting they will feel the same way that someone is personally thinking about them.
How can artists connect with other artists?
As a calligrapher, I don’t feel lonely at all. I guess that is because there’s a big calligraphy community on IG and everyone is so nice and loving. If you are doing something and feel lonely. My advice is to reach out and connect with someone that is doing the same as you. Don’t be shy about it. You can start by commenting on their works, and be sincere about it. People definitely can tell the difference. And eventually you can invite them to coffee to chat if they started to comment back on your works. I know social media can be intimidating and scary when you first started, but I believe people are really nice and they really do want to share their experiences.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see on work on my Instagram, @t.l.creations, and they can contact me through email at tlcreationsblog@gmail.com. I am also in the process of working on a website right now. Once it’s ready, people can view my work and contact me through my website.
