Check Out Danny Tabares’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Tabares.

Danny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Of course. First off, thank you for this opportunity!
I started as a young immigrant from Acapulco, Mexico and grew up in the Willowbrook area of Houston, TX.
Being part of a working-class family, my mom paved the way by going to college herself and showed me it’s a great way to advance one’s career. I then embarked on a decade-long college career filled with trial-and-error trying to find the right school and major.
Once I found the right school and course path, it was game on from there.
I earned an AutoCAD certification from Lone Star College’s Continuing Education program a couple years ago, where I learned technical drafting (title blocks, layers, 2D/3D modeling).

I recently graduated from Lone Star College with an Associate of Applied Science in Visual Communications, along with a Web Design Level II certificate.
I specialize in Front-End Development (HTML/CSS) as well as multimedia production and management (A/V).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was never really a smooth road. Balancing schoolwork with a job and personal projects honestly lead to stress, anxiety, and financial struggles. But all in all I’m grateful for challenges because they all come with a lesson to be learned. It’s up to us if we wanna listen and apply those lessons.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love creating websites. I am aware there are easy options out there like Shopify or Squarespace, but there’s something about typing raw code and running databases yourself, and having multiple hosting options.

I am most proud of my personal portfolio website I created recently to assist in my job search after graduating college.
It was my first time ever publishing a website with the sole focus being myself, and I had to make look more professional than my usual work since the site’s target audience is potential employers and people who would like to work with me.

What sets me apart from others is that I am not your usual Front-End Developer. My strengths are HTML and CSS, but not JavaScript. However, I also have years of experience editing and producing audio and video for a web series. I am also certified in AutoCAD technical drafting. And I also know Illustrator and Photoshop.

How do you define success?
Success is finding stability, the happiness in everyday life, and having true, loyal and good people around you.
