Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Moore.
Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello my name is Andrea Moore, I’m the proud founder of Skin Love Esthetics located in Houston, Texas. My business was born from one of the most difficult yet life-changing seasons of my life.
After fourteen years as an educator, I took a two-year sabbatical to focus on my health. I became seriously ill and had to travel four hours from home to McKinney, Texas, to receive specialized medical care that ultimately saved my life. During that season of healing, I spent countless hours praying and asking God what He wanted me to do next. The word that continually came to my heart was esthetician. At the time, I knew very little about the profession, so I began researching what esthetics was all about.
My interest quickly became personal.
For more than ten years, I had struggled with acne, post-inflammatory blemishes, and uneven skin tone after being diagnosed with PCOS. Before then, my skin had always been naturally clear. Friends often asked if I was wearing makeup when I wasn’t. Losing the confidence I once had in my skin taught me firsthand how deeply skin concerns can affect a person’s self-esteem and quality of life.
I decided to become a licensed esthetician not only to learn how to heal my own skin but also to help others regain their confidence through corrective skincare.
Starting esthetics school during the COVID-19 pandemic brought its own challenges. Because of my health, I worried I might not even be accepted into the program. On my very first day, I arrived late because I was wearing a cast on my leg and was learning to drive using my opposite foot. My phone kept ringing because students who were absent or late during the first five days of school could be dismissed from the program. I feared my dream was over before it had even begun. When I finally arrived, my instructors graciously listened to my circumstances and welcomed me into the program. That experience reminded me that obstacles don’t have the final say when you’re walking in your purpose.
Through perseverance and determination, I graduated first in my esthetics class in Addison, Texas, in June 2022.
Even my licensing exam came with an unexpected test of faith. On the morning of my state board examination, my tire suddenly blew out, and my car began smoking as though it were on fire. Shaken and overwhelmed, I called roadside assistance, expecting a long wait. To my surprise, help arrived within two minutes. The technician quietly replaced my tire in just a few minutes without saying a word. Still rattled, I called my godmother and told her I thought I should reschedule my exam. She simply said, “Go in the strength of the Lord and take your test.”
I did exactly that.
In July 2022, I officially became a licensed esthetician.
Since then, I have continued advancing my education by specializing in corrective skincare for skin of color, restoring compromised skin barriers, and helping individuals whose skin has been affected by cancer treatments. I am also grateful for the opportunity to have worked at Massage Envy, where I strengthened my clinical skills and gained valuable experience. While I appreciated that opportunity, I realized many of the advanced corrective treatments I had trained to perform weren’t offered in that environment.
When I returned home to Houston, I searched for an esthetics position that aligned with my passion for corrective skincare but couldn’t find the right opportunity. Once again, I sought God in prayer. I asked Him whether I should continue waiting or if He was calling me to open my own corrective skincare studio.
Not long afterward, I visited church with my god-sister, believing God would give me direction. During the service, the pastor unexpectedly stopped and declared:
“Esthetician. Esthetician. Esthetician. Stir up the gift of God that is in you. You already have everything you need to start your business. You don’t need another confirmation. You were meant to be an entrepreneur.”
At that moment, I immediately began crying tears of joy. Every prayer I had prayed was answered in that single moment.
Starting Skin Love Esthetics was both exciting and intimidating. I was investing in a treatment suite, building a business from the ground up, and trusting God without knowing where my clients would come from. It required faith, courage, and complete dependence on Him.
Today, Skin Love Esthetics exists to help people truly love the skin they’re in.
My mission is to provide personalized, corrective skincare treatments that address acne, hyperpigmentation, premature aging, DPNs, skin tags, and compromised skin barriers while educating every client on the science behind their skincare and the ingredients that will help them achieve lasting results.
Watching my clients regain confidence as their skin transforms is the greatest reward I could ever ask for. This is more than a career—it is my calling. Every treatment is an opportunity to educate, encourage, and empower someone to feel confident in their own skin.
The foundation of Skin Love Esthetics is built on faith. I trust God’s promises found in Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 3:5–6, Deuteronomy 8:18, and Psalm 46:5. Those scriptures have guided every step of this journey and continue to remind me that this business was never just my idea—it was God’s purpose for my life. Remember anything worth having is worth fighting for.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building and growing Skin Love Esthetics has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life, but it has also come with its share of challenges. Entrepreneurship has taught me that every season won’t be easy. There have been moments when I encountered negativity from others in the beauty industry and experienced the disappointment of people I had supported not supporting me in return. Those experiences were difficult, but they strengthened my faith, resilience, and determination.
Despite the obstacles, God has continually reminded me that He is faithful. I was incredibly blessed when someone believed in my vision enough to invest in my business, helping me establish the foundation I needed to get started. I was also honored to receive the She Means Business Grant through the Woman Evolve Foundation in partnership with The Potter’s House of Dallas. In 2025, I was sponsored to attend the Good Soil Conference, where I not only gained invaluable business knowledge but also received funding for essential business supplies.
One of the biggest ongoing challenges is creating and editing my own marketing content. Producing educational videos, taking photos, and managing social media requires countless hours behind the scenes. Although it can be exhausting, I know it is an investment in my dream and my clients.
Looking back, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. Skin Love Esthetics is more than a business—it’s my calling and my heart’s joy. Every challenge has strengthened my purpose, and every victory reminds me that with faith, perseverance, and hard work, dreams truly can become reality.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Skin Love Esthetics is a corrective skincare studio in Houston, Texas, dedicated to helping clients achieve healthy, confident skin through customized treatments and education. I specialize in treating acne, hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory discoloration, anti-aging concerns, and the removal of dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN) and skin tags. Every treatment plan is tailored to the client’s unique skin type, lifestyle, and goals because I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to skincare.
What sets Skin Love Esthetics apart is the combination of results-driven treatments, ethical, personalized care, and genuine compassion. Before becoming an esthetician, I spent fourteen years as an educator. Teaching taught me how to listen, educate, and empower others—skills that now allow me to help clients understand their skin and build effective home care routines that produce lasting results. I don’t just perform facials; I partner with my clients throughout their skincare journey.
I am especially passionate about helping people who have struggled with acne, blemishes, and uneven skin tone because I know that journey personally. After being diagnosed with PCOS, I experienced many of the same skin challenges my clients face today. That experience inspired me to become a licensed esthetician so I could not only transform my own skin but also help others regain their confidence.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of creating a business that is built on faith, integrity, education, and excellence. Skin Love Esthetics is a place where every client is treated with respect, care, and honesty. My goal is for every person who walks through my door to leave feeling more confident, seeing desired results, more informed, and empowered to love the skin they’re in.
At Skin Love Esthetics, skincare is more than a luxury—it’s an investment in your health, confidence, and self-care. My mission is to deliver visible results while creating a welcoming environment where every client feels seen, valued, educated, and cared for.

I am especially grateful to my closest friends and the healthcare professionals who have shared my business cards, referred clients, and spoken highly of me in rooms I have never stepped into. Their belief in my work has created opportunities that I will always cherish.
I also want to thank my spiritual mentor, Prophetess Vivian U., whose wisdom and encouragement strengthened me during some of the most challenging moments of entrepreneurship. She reminded me that the obstacles I faced were evidence that I had already won, despite what I was seeing. Those words gave me the faith to keep moving forward when the journey became difficult.
A special thank you goes to my sister, Adrienne, who wholeheartedly supported my dream from the very beginning. She hosted spa parties to introduce new clients to Skin Love Esthetics and stayed by my side from the first guest to the last. I know those long days were often exhausting, yet she continued to show up with love, encouragement, and unwavering support.
I am also deeply thankful to my close friend, Charlene B., who invested in my business before I even opened my doors. Her confidence in my vision provided both encouragement and practical support at a time when I needed it most.
I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Woman Evolve for awarding me business funding through the *She Means Business* Grant and for sponsoring my attendance at the 2025 *Good Soil Forum*. Those opportunities provided invaluable education, resources, and inspiration that continue to impact my business today.
Finally, I want to thank my esthetics instructors, Brianna Meshack and Cinda Graham. They believed in my potential, encouraged me throughout my training, and helped lay the foundation for the esthetician I am today. Their mentorship gave me the confidence to pursue excellence in corrective skincare.
As Skin Love Esthetics continues to grow, I am excited about the future and look forward to learning from an accomplished esthetics spa mentor who can help me scale my business and expand my impact. I believe there is always room to grow, and I remain committed to serving my clients with excellence while continuing to learn and evolve.
To everyone who has prayed for me, referred a client, booked an appointment, shared a post, invested in my dream, or simply encouraged me along the way—thank you. Skin Love Esthetics is thriving because of God’s grace and the incredible community he has placed around me.
